I tried looking and this doesn't really go in any of the other sections lol. So, MISC section it is! happy.gif

I've been thinking of getting a foldable bike because of the lack of space I have in my dorm room for my normal bike but they're sometimes crazy expensive (well, they cost more than a normal bike)
Does anyone have one or is planning on getting one? Or, what do you think of them?

yea... some of the designs look pretty wack but otherwise, they're pretty convenient I guess?

I think they're cute!! But I'd be uncomfortable with one... and afraid of them breaking on me. I mean, what if you ride through something unpleasant, would you fold it up and put it back in your bag?

As for limited space, couldn't you just chain it up and leave it outside your room?

PACIFIC BICYCLE in SAN FRANCISCO sells this folding bike for around $700

they are popular in SF with office workers that use them for commuting and they fold it and bring it to the office until they go home.

I would like one, they can also be easily transported in a cars trunk so you could take it on trips smile.gif

I want one just because they take up less space than normal bikes. I can just put it in a corner somewhere instead of having it take up a wall.

I really really want to get one before school starts since I live off-campus. I just need to make money first. dry.gif

They're john teshing awesome. I've wanted one ever since I saw this business suit, in one swift motion, hop off, fold and get his ass on a train in a matter of seconds.

yea, that's the thing. I've seen people on the subway with them once in awhile but I don't know anything about their durability or speed or comfort lol
a friend of mine says a bunch of people have them in Taiwan. Really?!

didn't know they existed till a little bit ago. seemed like a stroke of genius.
though o-0' i like the roller shoe idea better [shoes with pop out wheels on the heels], but eh - call me queer and childish. rofl

these bikes are all over japan. i've also seen a lot in korea.
i have one, but honestly, i've never folded it up.
i think over the past 3 years i've seen a folded up one like...twice? huh.gif
in japan those bikes cost $90-$200 for a "regular" one, and more than $300 for a "nice" one.

#2 and #4 in the 1st post would be the expensive ones in japan.

but, i love those bikes <3
i write an important thing, and do not let's finish. a way of writing for freedom.

That makes sense that they would be more expensive because 2 and 4 seemed to be modelled after more conventional looking bikes lol.
Can you recommend any good brands; you've had your for the past 3 years... at least it hasn't fallen apart yes?

That's what I'm worried about the most lol.
Essentially, a durable bike that'll last 3-4 years that can fit in a small space lol. And that'll be priced around $200 >.<

nah Shoe rollers are awesome too... just not good to travel distances on gravel streets and grass tongue.gif

I think they are cool but I would never use them...a normal bike seems more stable. Plus I don't know where to get one ^^''

I just bought one - Dahon Speed D7 for $499. I was thinking about getting the Dahon MU P8, but it was $200 more T_T

Btw, the reputable folding bikes company that I researched are Dahon, Tikit, and Brompton.

Here's a video of how to fold the bike.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiY_E5GyjTY

When I was riding the folding bike back home, this van drove by, honked at me and called me a nerd lol... Man, some people have too much time while driving.

Anyway, dont worry about those jerks who call you names or w/e, because they dont know you're riding a folding bike!
