Hmm , i dont know if ppl actually follow the HP storyline after twilight came out. But i dont think Twilight can beat Hp. Its a 13 year plot J.k rowling worked on , and a more serious mature book. in my Opinion. as for the movies i like , them im not a fanatic i just decided to read the books , though i must admit the movies are very catchy. As for twilight all that is being said in the book is how handsome edward cullen is , well i do like twilight i just dont see these 2 books comparable at all its a whole different theme to it.

Anyone going to see it?
Any comments or...arguments?

Twilight will never be as good as HP. And Rowling is just a far more superior writer. I agree - they shouldn't be compared, but it's more due to the fanbase than anything.
As for the movies... I must admit I've been following New Moon much more closely than I have HBP, but I'm excited for both.

Yes, they are not comparable.
I can't wait till HBP.
I'm planning on seeing the midnight showing for it, but I probably would not for New Moon.

I'm a major HP fan so it really amuses me that people would even think Stephanie Meyer's on the same par as JK Rowling.
I've always been so eager to watch new HP movies, so much that I've always went to the midnight screenings.
I'm not even sure if I'm going to be watching New Moon since I don't really follow the books. [Gave up half-way through the first book.]

I'm not a fan of Twilight (got forced to watch it) & tried reading the book, but nah. Didn't work out. The New Moon trailer looked convincing though. Better than the first movie. Not planning to watch it though. I'm all over Harry Potter. I cannot wait for HBP. I've been waiting so long. I think HP > Twilight. laugh.gif aha. No offence to any fans though.

okay, obviously HBP is going to kick new moon's butt because it has a bigger budget, bigger cast, and actual material to work with.

that being said, daniel radcliffe has been portraying HP for 5 movies and has a good handle on his character (if by now, he hasn't then he is a shame to the acting world). not to mention rupert grint brings his own shine to ron weasley's character and, imho, makes ron more likeable than he actually is. and, this is the book where dumbledore expires by the hand of snape (OMGepicdrama). we also delve deep into tom riddle's past and the darkness of the series--this is going to be great.

in comparison, rpatz is still trying hard to hide his british accent (by doing so, succeeds in sounding like he's always in pain since he's gritting his teeth 24/7) and kstew has never even touched the books to learn her character. i can't get over this fact because reading the screenplay is not enough to understand bella (since it SUCKS) and the only reason why she won't read the books is cos she's afraid that it's going to influence her portrayal of the character. uh, excuse me, how can you portray a character when you don't know who she is on account of the fact that you refuse to read her story, told from HER point of view? no wonder bella came off as an awkward and naive fool in the first movie. and seeing in the direction the first film went, the second movie will just be dripping with teenage wangst (but with hot wolf pack that apparently shower, unlike mr. 'dreamy' rpatz).

the problem with twilight isn't with the director--catherine hardwicke has directed fine films in the past (see thirteen). but with the screenplay and unfortunately, they axed the director and kept the crappy screenwriter. so i'm not expecting much from this movie, asides from the hope that since the second book was so terrible, maybe the movie will be better. but honestly, i don't understand why the screenwriter would cut the book (which is actually THE script, if you would just take out some pronouns and cut bella's monologues into shorter bits) into random pieces, insert random pointlessn scenes and wittle the most poignant ones into an absolute mess. (re: THE meadow scene that was filmed in a forest, that magically appeared behind the school) how did edward cullen seem like such an ideal man on paper but on screen, turned out to be such a total creep in person? i don't even know how they turned the character whom i was absolutely in love with for four months into such a flop within minutes.

/rant.

i'mn sick of people comparing the two because they are so different. twilight is deemed towards tween girls who like to fantasize whereas harry potter is a classic. the only similarity between the two is that they are both popular.

Twilight the book was....hard to get through to say the least. Movie? Uh what a waste of money sleep.gif. I can't possibly for the life of me understand how ANYONE can consider this movie to be even half way decent? To put it plainly- it sucked so much I laughed in pain while watching it.

HP the movies were never that good (some were boring and too many parts were cut, as well as bad acting by emma) but the new one looks exciting (ignoring emma's bad acting as usual) and the books are amazing, so can't wait!

I enjoyed HP for the movies not really for the book.

I like twilight books (mostly the first one) and not really so in twilight the movie. Hopefully "New Moon" will be better. tongue.gif

so that being said, I'm quite looking forward in both movies and see which one delivered more. wink.gif

HBP FTW.
Im sooooo excited about HBP~ I want to go to the midnight screening but none of my friends want to go.. and my parents won't allow me (they hate HP without reading any of the books <__<).
I couldn't finish Twilight... I only watched 30 minutes and got bored really fast. Robert can't act, he looks like hes constipating most of the time. Kristen made Bella look expressionless.
so I am not going to watch New Moon.

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE!!! I'm getting impatient!! Idk why it feels so long to wait for the movie to be out!
I can't wait biggrin.gif
I thought HP was definitely better cause the Twilight movie wasn't that exciting as compared to the book. No offence.

To be honest Harry Potter movies are not that good comparing to books. But still, waaaaaaay better than Twilight.

Twilight will never be even on the same tier as Harry Potter as far as quality, appeal, and fan base are concerned.
It just thrives because Robert Pattinson is hot >_<
I guarantee you if he hadn't been in that movie, it would have never become even half as popular.

Well, at least the New Moon trailer shows that the studios have realized what the Twilight fanbase wants - the one I saw was entirely comprised of an Edward/Bella kissing scene, and a shirtless shot of Jake.

I'm so happy, because an organization in my city is sponsoring a first come first serve private screening of HP6...ON THE 14TH!!!

I have not read Twilight and I'm not sure if I want to bother since my friends say its more on a "youth" reading level..plus I saw the movie and I really think the only appeal to it is how good looking some of the actors on and also the intensity of the love/lust between Edward and Bella. I don't dislike the series, but I'm not a HUGE fan..honestly I only watch because Rob Pattinson is it, and I actually liked him better as Cedric Diggory than Edward Cullen haha. biggrin.gif

No story can ever touch Harry Potter..J.K. Rowling made this magical, mystical, complex universe that is Harry Potter..no detail left behind...it's amazing and I can totally see why HP has the amount of fans, influence, and recognition that it does. It doesn't rely on eye candy actors or romance to keep it afloat. It's a world within itself and that's why I think it's pointless to even compare Twilight and Harry Potter because one is a teen-type story and the other is just epic. I feel like there's more to compare between HP and say, Lord Of The Rings.

Both movies suck. The HP movies have been steadily getting worse after Prisoner of Azkaban but at least it's based on something that actually has substance? Because Twilight, I mean, seriously, sparkly vampires? rolleyes.gif and Bella blinks like EVERY TWO SECONDS (because Kristen Stewart is always high) and um, stalking is not sweet. It's creepy as hell.

HARRY POTTER FTW! It's original and definitely worth reading and watching - though I must say it is kinda disappointing that some scenes that happen in the book didn't really happen in the movie, but it's a story with a plot well developed by J.K. Rowling, who is a FARTHER better author than whatsherface who makes 283094382 grammar mistakes every page. And seriously, do we have to read a 2 page description about how hot Edward Cullen is? I died after the first half of the first book sleep.gif
