As for the movies... I must admit I've been following New Moon much more closely than I have HBP, but I'm excited for both.

I can't wait till HBP.
I'm planning on seeing the midnight showing for it, but I probably would not for New Moon.

I've always been so eager to watch new HP movies, so much that I've always went to the midnight screenings.
I'm not even sure if I'm going to be watching New Moon since I don't really follow the books. [Gave up half-way through the first book.]

that being said, daniel radcliffe has been portraying HP for 5 movies and has a good handle on his character (if by now, he hasn't then he is a shame to the acting world). not to mention rupert grint brings his own shine to ron weasley's character and, imho, makes ron more likeable than he actually is. and, this is the book where dumbledore expires by the hand of snape (OMGepicdrama). we also delve deep into tom riddle's past and the darkness of the series--this is going to be great.
in comparison, rpatz is still trying hard to hide his british accent (by doing so, succeeds in sounding like he's always in pain since he's gritting his teeth 24/7) and kstew has never even touched the books to learn her character. i can't get over this fact because reading the screenplay is not enough to understand bella (since it SUCKS) and the only reason why she won't read the books is cos she's afraid that it's going to influence her portrayal of the character. uh, excuse me, how can you portray a character when you don't know who she is on account of the fact that you refuse to read her story, told from HER point of view? no wonder bella came off as an awkward and naive fool in the first movie. and seeing in the direction the first film went, the second movie will just be dripping with teenage wangst (but with hot wolf pack that apparently shower, unlike mr. 'dreamy' rpatz).
the problem with twilight isn't with the director--catherine hardwicke has directed fine films in the past (see thirteen). but with the screenplay and unfortunately, they axed the director and kept the crappy screenwriter. so i'm not expecting much from this movie, asides from the hope that since the second book was so terrible, maybe the movie will be better. but honestly, i don't understand why the screenwriter would cut the book (which is actually THE script, if you would just take out some pronouns and cut bella's monologues into shorter bits) into random pieces, insert random pointlessn scenes and wittle the most poignant ones into an absolute mess. (re: THE meadow scene that was filmed in a forest, that magically appeared behind the school) how did edward cullen seem like such an ideal man on paper but on screen, turned out to be such a total creep in person? i don't even know how they turned the character whom i was absolutely in love with for four months into such a flop within minutes.
/rant.
i'mn sick of people comparing the two because they are so different. twilight is deemed towards tween girls who like to fantasize whereas harry potter is a classic. the only similarity between the two is that they are both popular.

HP the movies were never that good (some were boring and too many parts were cut, as well as bad acting by emma) but the new one looks exciting (ignoring emma's bad acting as usual) and the books are amazing, so can't wait!

I like twilight books (mostly the first one) and not really so in twilight the movie. Hopefully "New Moon" will be better.
so that being said, I'm quite looking forward in both movies and see which one delivered more.

Im sooooo excited about HBP~ I want to go to the midnight screening but none of my friends want to go.. and my parents won't allow me (they hate HP without reading any of the books <__<).
I couldn't finish Twilight... I only watched 30 minutes and got bored really fast. Robert can't act, he looks like hes constipating most of the time. Kristen made Bella look expressionless.
so I am not going to watch New Moon.

I can't wait
I thought HP was definitely better cause the Twilight movie wasn't that exciting as compared to the book. No offence.

It just thrives because Robert Pattinson is hot >_<
I guarantee you if he hadn't been in that movie, it would have never become even half as popular.
Well, at least the New Moon trailer shows that the studios have realized what the Twilight fanbase wants - the one I saw was entirely comprised of an Edward/Bella kissing scene, and a shirtless shot of Jake.
I'm so happy, because an organization in my city is sponsoring a first come first serve private screening of HP6...ON THE 14TH!!!

No story can ever touch Harry Potter..J.K. Rowling made this magical, mystical, complex universe that is Harry Potter..no detail left behind...it's amazing and I can totally see why HP has the amount of fans, influence, and recognition that it does. It doesn't rely on eye candy actors or romance to keep it afloat. It's a world within itself and that's why I think it's pointless to even compare Twilight and Harry Potter because one is a teen-type story and the other is just epic. I feel like there's more to compare between HP and say, Lord Of The Rings.
