I do that a hell of a lot,
I call it PMS.
But most of the time it's triggered by some useless stuff.
____ se7en years, still going.

but I have cried over the silliest things.
I once had a massive crying tantrum,
just because my mom couldn't drive me to choir.
Literally, I sounded like a rabid animal.
And then a few years ago at my birthday party,
this one guy smeared cake all over my cheek
and I started sobbing and I ran into the bathroom.
It was supposed to be funny, but I was distressed.
Three days later, I'm on my period.
I still feel embarrassed whenever I think back to that day.
Not because of the cake, but because of my ridiculous outburst.
It helps to remember previous events
during which you have caused a rather humiliating scene,
to prevent another one from occurring when you PMS. (:

At one point of my life every year, I just get fed up with everything.
So, I would most likely break down during school and when people
wants to know what's going on with me. I don't know how to answer
them. I remember I made this super lame excuse and said that I
was gonna get my butt whooped because I lost my sister's pencil.
LOL that only excuse that I had when I was breaking down
Some people made fun of me and aghh! Just made me cry even more.

I always feel really refreshed afterward, though, like I just had a session of soul purging.
Don't worry about it unless your emotions interrupt and cripple your daily life. Crying is healthy!

No, it's not. A mental breakdown is much more than just crying for no reason. OP is just talking about occasionally crying, & not knowing why.
That is normal and not cause for concern. You sound like you're very unhappy, though, that you cry a lot and that it's really distressing you.
If you're crying all the time for no reason, then maybe you're suffering from depression. But that's still not a 'mental breakdown', that refers
to something else. But still, go and see your doctor asap if you think that you may be suffering from depression or anything else.
Anyway. Yeah it sucks but it happens. It's probably just hormones etc.
I wouldn't worry. I tend to cry over nothing the week after my period, I'm just hormonal as hell xD
If it's seriously affecting your life, your happiness, your ability to function normally, then see someone.
If not, just accept that being a girl means being hormonal & overemotional sometimes and try not to worry about it

I think it's our tear ducts..
yesterday my brother threw a pillow at my face and i started tearing. Not fully crying but the tears just started to roll down...and it was uncontrollable.
