I didn`t take any pills but before 1 hour before my surgery to dry out my mouth, so I`m not sure. I was in pain for about a week, and the gapping little holes in your mouth get annoying because food can get stuck in it. -_____- You probably won`t be able to eat anything solid, well hard for awhile because it hurts. I just ate a lot of mash potatoes, rice with soup and yogurt/jello. XD You should drink room temperature water, that`s what I did. x_x

You won't be able to chew for the first three days or so. Make sure you stuff yourself for the next few days!
You probably won't be able to brush your teeth for the first three days, so floss and clean well before the surgery.
You can drink both warm and cold water. Avoid hot water.
My orthodontist said that rinsing your mouth with warm water will help reduce the swelling. So make your salt rinse warm. MAKE SURE YOU RINSE AFTER EATING OR DRINKING ANYTHING (but water), or else the wound might get infected. Even if it's just a cracker or a glass of milk.
I didn't take any Valium. Instead, the surgeon gave me laughing gas just before he injected the sedatives.

i actually had seven wisdom teeth, all surgically removed
yes. i said seven. they were all wisdom teeth, not molars or anything.
i was "special" and had three extra, behind my normal wisdoms. i forgot what the condition was called. lol.
i took valium! it was really helpful, and calming. it seriously makes you not care about anything.
they told me not to eat anything midnight, and take the pill the morning of the operation.
valium makes you CRAZY. i'm not even exaggerating.
my health teacher told me that it's a type of depressant drug.
it made me totally loopy!
like i couldnt walk straight, my coordination was totally off.
i was super calm, and didnt worry/care about anything.
this sounds stupid, but i couldnt exactly control myself. i was so calm,
that i actually stood in the middle of my room and stared at the wall.
valium makes you feel very "out of it"
so i went into the operation, and the doctor gave me laughing gas.
it really makes you smiley. haha. at first, it feels as if its not going to work,
but within 30 seconds of laughing, you're out.
my whole operation was 30 minutes long.
i woke up, and everything was kind of blurry. the only thing i remember is stumbling into a wheelchair
and being wheeled back into my parents car.
when i got home, i kind of stumbled out of the car and up the stairs to my room,
and immediately fell asleep.
*tip: be sure to put a towel on your pillow, just in case you bleed. do so before you leave to get your teeth removed. i subconsciously crawled into bed. luckily, my mom came in and woke me up to put a towel on my pillow.
i didn't bleed THAT much. the gauze is pretty helpful, but i think i only used maybe 3 gauzes out of the +50 they gave me.
i'm not totally sure if all wisdom teeth extractions are the same,
but i got stitches on mine. maybe that's why i didn't bleed as much?
the stitches naturally dissolve on their own in your mouth. so you don't have to get them removed :]
they didn't give me the syringe until my check up appointment, which was a week later.
my oral surgeon told me that my mouth was almost completely healed, so using the syringe was pretty much unnecessary& i wasn't required to use it [but he gave it to me just in case]
what to eat:
i was back to eating solids in about 10-14 days.
before that, i lived solely off of pudding, yogurt, jello, and jamba juice
from what i remember, you're not supposed to use a straw. it messes up your blood clot.
so when drinking smoothies, ect, use a spoon :]
remember to rinse after eating things!
it's also suggested that you rinse with salt water. it speeds up the healing process.
the doctor gave me quite a few pills.
he gave me some for pain, swelling reduction, and another pain pill.
i actually only took ~half of what i was supposed to.
i'm extremely sensitive, and the swelling reduction pill kept me up WIDE AWAKE until 5am if i took it at night.
it might be different in your case though.
i did not experience a lot of pain, since i took a few pills. sometimes, it just seemed a little sore & tender.
my swelling wasn't completely bad. i was back to normal in about 4 days?
the first few days, you are supposed to apply ICE to reduce swelling
after that, alternate between heat & ice.
dont worry, you'll be back to your normal lifestyle in like 2 weeks!
good luck!
oops. i didn't mean to make this reply so long. sorry!

extracting mine was extra-painful because i had also had an infection.
the nurses gave me pain-relievers, but i can't swallow pills,
so i just bought myself one of those tylenol liquid pain-relievers.
so just take it, and get lots of rest.
as for when it comes to food,
i basically only consumed soup, and those korean porridges. nothing solid or hard, because it hurts to swallow.
my dentist gave me gauzes to keep in my mouth, and i had about one or two at a time for about 3-4 hours each?
absorbed all the blood and i slept without a bloody pillow.

i was SOOOO scared too, but it honestly wasn't that bad. they put me to sleep so i couldnt feel a thing..
.. until after the numbing wore off LOL
it hurt for about a week or two. the first week i just ate the painkillers and slept for about most of the day. i didn't eat much either. something small like yogurt or juice.

. . . . . why cant I love you in slow motion, take my time ..?

it made me go insane...
so, this was my story:
wen i went to the place, the nurse wrapped this thing around my arm. and had that heart rate thingyy. and this thing that was like a clip and it clipped onto my index finger >O<"
later, wen the surgery was gonna start, my surgeon called me to clench my fist then he poked this needle along with a loooooong tube (its like in those tv dramas.. i kinda got nervous wen i saw the needle.. im scared of needles >O<")
then.. i started to feel all weird and tingly and i got knocked into sleep in a few seconds after the needle was in.
i got my whole body numbed.
the whole entire process took around 45-60mins (i personally dont know.. my mom told me)
honestly, i cant even rmb how i woke up.. -.- then they brought me to this "resting area" and i slept there for awhile. (the nurse gave me a blanket too)
the medicine was still strong after i woke up. i saw triples or even quadtriples of everything. and i couldnt stand up at all.
yeah, then the nurse came in and checked on me and helped me switch the gauze (the blood absorbing cotton thing)
wen i got home, i slept right away.
believe me, but for the first few hours, everything in your mouth is blood.
and.. you cant spit or use a straw.
i had to eat porridge by "pouring" it in my mouth -.-
it hurts a bit wen i swallow too >O<" its "that" painful
yeah, ALWAYS rmb to eat the pills that are prescripted. it prevents the wounds to infect.
so... basically.. ALL i ate was porridge and icecream... it was so sad *cries*
im soo sick of icecream. i wanna puke wen i see it
"wat to eat & drink"
soft soft soft soft stuff, trust me TOFU DOES NOT WORK!
porridge, yogurt and icecream allllllll the way!
drink ultra cold drinks,
"wat to and not to do"
-always use the icepack they give you. i looked like a chipmunk for 6 days... -.-
-rinse with salt water after every thing you eat
-have everything cold cold cold cold!
-hmm.. dont try to talk or laugh.. trust it. it hurts.. A LOT! >_>" I SNEEZED AND.. you dont kno how painful it was...
-dont use a straw.
-avoid spitting.. it hurts
haha i hope this helped!

i had all 4 of them extracted in one go.
afterwards, my cheeks just felt really numb for a few hours. other than that, you can't even tell the difference between before your teeth got pulled out and after.
maybe it's just me, but i didn't bleed alot..... and it stopped after 1 hour~ish.
for the first week, just stick to cold / mild-warm soft foods like conji (um... chinese porridge?), soup, pasta, yogurt.... and move on from there. don't bother with tofu, they just get really messy. T_____T
LOTS OF LIQUIDS, preferably not very cold/ mild-warm. don't eat hard foods (ie. biscuits, nuts, pretzels) right away, it HURTS.
your jaw joints will feel sore for awhile though, don't stress them too much. take small sips / bites.
oh yeah, you probably will get bruises on your face and your arm where they put that IV drip on you, don't freak out about them...... they're from the needles where they put in the numb medicine. i had these huge bruises on my face and people kept asking me if i got jumped by a gang or whatever =______________=;;
the surgeon told me to rinse with warm salt water twice a day to clean out all the excess foods stuck in your mouth. don't drink with a straw or spit, it doesn't feel good for your jaw joints ><;;
ice packs are a must. i looked like a chipmunk for the next week, but it helps ALOT. the coldness calms the swelling down and all that good stuff.
people say it hurts and it's really scary; my friend's brother had a really bad experience (his mom said he couldn't even move for 2 days and it was REAAAAAALLY painful) but it's actually not that bad. i even had them extracted during spring break, boo. =0=;; there's really nothing to worry about~
sorry to make this so long, but basically that's how i dealt with it.
hope i helped! best of luck with your surgery ^_^

I rinse my mouth with warm water in the morning and Colgate: Chlorhexidine Gluconate Oral rinse at night. it's available in CVS or any local drug store.
And right after the anesthetic wore off (NOTE: it last for one hour after surgery) I slept for maybe 4 hours or more xD didn't want to deal the pain and keep the ice pack (warped in paper towel) on the side of my swollen cheek while i sleep. make sure you have something underneath, like a towel maybe, so the ice doesn't melt on your pillow.
Since you gonna get 4 out....you'll need a strong painkiller. forgot what's it's called though but you should ask the person who's going to extract your wisdom tooth. it helps A LOT
What i eat...i ate porridge and yogurt =] real slooow haha and lots of water.
