Hey guys! Sorry if this kind of thread is not allowed, but I'm currently in China and my cousin wants me to buy her a few Chinese/Taiwanese Dramas [hopefully i will find LEGIT copies and not fakes =.=]
She likes dramas set in modern times, so no historical dramas
So can some of you guys recommend me some good Chinese/Taiwanese dramas set in modern times from the last few years (2006-2009 would be best)?

These are not recent, but they're extremely popular. Yeah cheesy, but that's what most idol dramas are like, so I recommend:

If your cousin can understand Chinese dialogue, there's a great drama from China called 拿什么拯救你我的爱人 (sorry, I can't find an official English title for it, probably no English-subtitled version). It's not very recent, from around 6 years ago. The story is unique in TV drama, about amour fou, very haunting.

Fated to Love You (Qiao En and Ethan Ruan) was one of the best taiwanese series I've watched for a long time. Totally recommend it.
My Queen (Ethan Ruan and Cheryl?)looks good too. I haven't finished it yet coz of the subs but its already finished in Taiwan. As far as I've watched it, the drama;s really interesting. Hope you can find that in DVD.
Love Contract (Ariel Lin, Mike He)
Romantic Princess (Wuchun, Angela Zhang)
Love or Bread (Ariel Lin, Joe Chen[is that his name? lol])

If you are talking about recent nice drama, i will recommend to you 'Black & White'.
Is by far the best drama ever, with different type of plotted and unexpected storyline.
But if you are a fan of romance drama, then this will not be as good as others.

BLACK AND WHITE -- it's a 2009 drama, so i don't know if they're even selling it yet, but it's the best. =D

Love Contract was good =) it's pretty serious and the chemistry btwn Mike and Ariel is seriously amazing.
Really enjoyed Mars as well, watch it if you're into darker dramas. (was out in 05 if I remember)
Watch the outsiders =) heard it was pretty good.
And of course mg if you haven't seen it, it's a freakin classic.

Black and White has been one of the best dramas ever ^^
My Queen was pretty good too - once u get past the older woman younger guy plot LOL
although the first two in the KO series were pretty bad - the 3rd one is a LOT better . . . a LOT
Prince Princess Two was good too ^^ the actress was good lol
atm theres a new one - Easy Fortune Happy Life thats attracted my attention too~

my favorite taiwanese drama has to be my lucky star. the two main actors had really good chemistry
i really like taiwanese dramas a lot more than korean. idk probably because i like the cheesey idol drama story lines.
other ones i really really liked devil beside you, why why love, it started with a kiss,bullfighting,fated to love you, ToGetHer,Miss no Good, smiling pasta, corner with love (it got kind of slow during the middle)
ugh love or bread took me forever to get through. i love ariel and joe but i could barely get through that show
these suggestions are really only if you like romantic idol dramas though
