So I received a note from a student of mine telling me that she likes me. I'm a college aide at a high school and she is of course a student. I'm trying to write a letter back to her to let her know it's wrong but i'm having a brain fart. Someone help me.

Don't write her a letter. Turn that paper into an authority figure like the teacher first, then ask them if it's appropriate for you to tell the girl in person you don't feel the same way in private (but with ppl nearby so it's not going to blow into a scandal if she tries something weird..).

This girl is in special education so it took a lot of courage for her to hand me this letter. I'm pretty sure she's not aware that this is wrong so that's why I'm writing a letter in return.

Do not write a letter to her, that would of hurt her feelings!

Take her aside, and commonly, with a little courage explains to her that teacher and student cannot fall in love with each other.

Explains her the differences between ages, and that shes a minor and your older!

She needs to love little boys her age, and that your not the right one for her ;]

yea, I just think you shouldn't write the letter back. If you do, she would probably keep it by her side all the time and it can probably be the thing that reminds her of you even though you rejected her.

Show her the holy wall of text called law and continue reading until she gets annoyed by your character.

But the letter idea sounds nice in this case: if a girl can do it, why can't you? Or in other words, if she can't be bothered to tell you in your face, why do you feel that you have to as well (contrary to what others are saying).

Just tell her you're not interested. Pull a Rain.

Ignore it.

Honestly, the worst thing you could do would be to humor her.

Just ignore it.

Ignore it for now, but if she continues to make advances...
Inform a person of authority and show him/her the letter and he/she will advise you what to do.
Last thing you want; is for her to get angry and start sprouting lies that could land you a jail sentence.

Seriously, you should at least SHOW it to someone of authority at the school first, that way if something happens you'll be okay.

I wouldn't write a letter back, either. Then again, if you do, SHOW it to the same person (^) first before you give it to her.

Don't do anything back. In my high school, a lot of the girls had a huge crush on one of our teachers, my friend included, she even told him straight up that he's hot and stuff and all he did was just laughed it off and didn't take it too seriously.

Yeah, I'd show it to the teacher or someone else you trust at the school to guide you. Don't take matters into your own hands, especially since she's a special education student. You can probably do more damage to her and yourself than you think, even if you're acting on good intentions.

dont say thank you =X it'll kinda show that you liked the letter and stuff and would probably make her think the wrong way... like others said, i would ignore it, if she does it again ask another faculty member since they probably have a better opinion on what to do than us

You must be really good looking for a student to like you... I don't think you should write her a letter back... I agree with some of the folks here... you should take it to the higher upper people and let them know... even though you think it won't hurt to write the girl back... maybe it will and maybe it won't but it better to be safe then sorry...

If she likes you and she's the 1st... there will be plenty more girls to come... brace yourself and talk to other male teachers etc to see if they ever experience anything like this and what they did... get some advice....

good luck and hope everything goes well for you...
