I'm about to apply and submit documents for the F4 visa...
And it turns out that I have records under korean registry because
both my biological parents were korean citizens before going to the States.
This is part of the family records, which I already have in my possession- so
I'm fine there.
And then, I need the birth certificate- which I ordered from some website.
But the embassy also asked for naturalization papers or certificate of citizenship.
What if I'm a natural born citizen? I'm totally confused now 'cause I thought
this only applied to people who got citizenship later on by law.
How do I explain, or are there some other documents used in lieu of these?
HELP! Thanks to the experienced.

i am currently going through visa papers myself.

if you have a birth certificate, i thought that should be enough?
but there should be another paper that goes with it, something similar to a naturalization paper? because as a minor you are both american and korean until the age of 18, when you are supposed to decide which one you want. i think then, you are supposed to recieve a paper confirming your choice. or maybe that only applies to international couples? i'm not sure.

but remember! if you don't have your birth certificates, it's not impossible. any baptismal documents, or possibly early childhood medical documents may work as well.

i would reccommend that you CALL immigration, though. although the papers and the internet say one thing, you may get confused. i called immigration MANY times about it, just to be sure about a lot of things.

all you need is your parents 호적 and your birth certificate if you were born as a US citizin.
-if you were born as a citizin of korea and then later recieved us citizenship you should then get your birth certificate along with you naturlization papers.

-also you can be a natural born us citizen and still be part of your family's 호적 because of the fact that they may have registered you on there as a us citizen but just for family and government records. sometimes this is easy for people with korean names who want it to be simple for the F4 alien registration cards, your name will be written in korean instead of phoenetically in English.
