Good morning, I was wondering if anyone knows what ring tone format the Samsung Omnia has so I can put custom ring tones on it. It is an unlocked phone. Thanks in advance.

mp3, under 300kb you can remove the limit by doing a registry edit

^ I buy new phones every few months because I love them and I can never keep my fingers from itching for a new one lol. Very bad and expensive habit but meh...better than drugs. Anyway, I ended up selling it to a friend of mine who had been drooling all over it when I got it.

assuming the omnia is running windows mobile 6.1

1. you need a registry editor for your phone

a free one can be found here http://freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml

download the cab and install it on your phone

2. run phmregistry editor and locate the following registry

HKEY_Current User > ControlPanel > Sounds
or
HKCU > control panel > sounds

3. you should find a registry called FileSizeLimit

4. you have an option to either change the registry number or delete the registry
if you change it, i suggest you make it a large number like 6mb which is 6291456

it shouldn't be too hard to do this and is relatively safe unless you somehow edit another registry

if you need any help or want to know more about hacking smart phones there is a forum entirely dedicated to it =P

That's true, it's better than drugs. I just got the Omnia and it's my third phone so far. I first had an Audiovox 8910 and then a Samsung m510.

What kind of phone do you have now?

Got my little hands on the Docomo N-02A, P906i, still have my LG Ice Cream and I'm looking for something new and sexy. i don't know what though. 2009 hasn't been the best year for phones. I'm trying to get rid of the Ice Cream though....hopefully the Lollipop will come out and hold me over until Docomo's winter lineup hits.

Anyone know how to set a ring tone as a sound for the alarm clock? I'd like Japanese or Korean music to wake me up in the morning when college starts in September. I'm tired of the annoying beeping sound of my old alarm clock.

Are you looking for an unlocked Omnia? If so, then it works with any company that offers a SIM card.

If you want to buy a locked one for either prepaid or on a contract then you should try Verizon (I think) in the States. In .Canada Telus and Bell has them.
