Am now deciding to major in psych and minor in criminology, do you think I made the right choice?
I enjoyed archi but couldn't continue on cos it was too intense, I hate commerce so decided to choose psych which was the other thing I really wanted to do besides archi.

Do you think I should have opted for commerce, being the 'smart' career path? Or stick with psych?
I heard it was hard for psych majors to find decent jobs.
Criminology will be a good complement for it imo, hopefully I don't end up regretting this =( I've already wasted lots of time. I'm not getting younger lol (says me the 19 year old). I'm turning 20 in sept sleep.gif. Can't believe I'll be with all the 18 year olds now lol.

I don't know - is money a problem for you? What year are you in right now?
You shouldn't decide your major based on money only, but if you can actually stand the job.
What ever major you choose, there are going to be competitive people :/
Commerce isn't really a good major - are you talking about business?

Alsoo I don't know if the intensiveness of the architecture major was a good idea for you to switch out :| Wouldn't it be better to 'suffer' 4 years and then have a stable job? Psych majors - you'll probably end up having to get your PhD if you want to try to earn some good money and advise other people (or maybe you can teach at a college), but I think for the most part you may end up doing research or doing some other jobs like working with children with certain problems/etc. in jail/etc.

Did you speak to your counselor before switching? If you didn't, I suggest you consult your counselor first.

Here's the main question: do you see yourself doing archi stuff and being happy with it the rest of your life?

The only person who can really tell you if you've made the correct choice is yourself. Though if you've already felt really skeptical about your first major, you probably made the smart move.

Psych majors can definitely get great jobs! Like g-yo says though... if you want to specifically work in the Psychology field, you might be doing research or some sort of job that requires you to advise people until you get a PhD.

However, be mindful that getting a degree does not lock you into that specific field in which it's categorized under. 80% of workers in the US are currently in a career field that isn't directly related to their major. Of course, if you want to get into a specific field, like Animation for example, you'll need a Bachelors in Arts: Animation degree. But employers don't just look to see how much knowledge you've attained with a BA/BS, they also look for dedication, communication skills, teamwork, time management, etc.

I recently changed my major from nursing to Japanese/English. I used to love human biology but I found myself hating it more and more each day until I couldn't stand it anymore. I changed it to Japanese/English because it's something I've loved studying, and I hope to get a job in localization one day. I may or may not get that job that I want immediately, or I might find myself in a career doing something completely different... but at least every employer I come across will know that by studying a second language, I'm deeply committed, well-rounded, & flexible in thinking.

This is the best piece I can offer you: Don't worry about the job part right now and just study what you are very passionate about! The more passionate you are with something, the more rewarding the results will be. Trust me!

Good luck!
