Yes, that's right. Deadpool will be playing Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the live action adapation. Really, REALLY stoked about this! The other finalists in conention for the role were Jared Leto, Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper. My vote would've gone to Bradley Cooper cause I thought there might've been scheduling conflicts for Reynolds cause of the Deadpool movie. The GL movie is set to go into principal photography by January next year and (hopefully) we'll see a release somewhere within the next two years.

So with that said, how do you think Fox will react to Reynolds being cast as Green Lantern? Would it have an effect on his Deadpool character?

Ryan Reynolds has now been in three comic book movies; Blade Trinity as Hannibal King, X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Wade Wilson/Deadpool and now DC's ring bearing superhero, Green Lantern. D:

And I still can't believe they were serious about giving Justin Timberlake the lead role...screen tested him and everything. ==

Not to be racist or anything, but Green Lantern struck me as one of the weirdest super heroes I've seen. Wasn't he a black guy at one point, either in the comics or in the tv show?

Nonetheless, can't wait to see that gnarly ring of his in action, lol.

I'm not an expert of GL, I haven't read any of the comics and stuff but I know that the black Green Lantern, John Stewart, was only like a replacement GL for a short period of time. Alan Scott is the original GL but Hal Jordan is the one fans love I guess cause his story is longer lived than Alan Scott. I'm still not sure why Justice League went ahead and used John Stewart. Maybe they just wanted to diversify their League or something, hahaha.

I think with most DC related movies, they're more plot driven than they are comic-ish and action-y. That isn't to say that there IS no action, it's just they take more time with their stories.

Batman was plot driven, Superman was plot driven and Watchmen was INCREDIBLY plot driven.

Green Lantern stood out to me cause:

1. In the DC Universe, his ring is the most powerful weapon ever created
2. There are many forms of the ring, not just Green but different colours. Colours represent the type of person the ringbearer is. For example, Red Lanterns were fueled by users consumed with rage and hate and Blue Lanterns harnessed one's hope etc.
3. It's set in space. I like space, biggrin.gif
4. Green and black are my favourite colours so it'sonly fitting that I find every GL suit to be sexy, haha. XD

There is a John Stewart who's African-American (fourth Green Lantern) but Hal Jordan is the second Green Lantern. There's many incarnations but those are the two most notable ones.

I think it's cool Ryan's going to be Green Lantern (but my personal choice was Chris Pine) and I'm grateful it could've been either him or Bradley Cooper over Timberlake. Isn't he also going to do the Deadpool spin off too? The release are in the same year.

Besides, I'm glad they're focusing on other DC Superheroes other than the usual Batman or Superman for film adaptations.

Variety also confirmed this casting (they're usually spot on) - Ryan Reynolds is the "Green Lantern"

That being said, I'm also curious about the plot because will they also include his love interest Carol Ferris? She's pretty important because she's also a supervillian counterpart of the Green Lantern called the Star Sapphire

Oh wow. I can't wait for this movie. Ryan Reynolds in a movie as anything is just so hot. Especially as a lead. Yay! I'm stoked.

I'm so glad that Justin Timberlake is not going to be playing the lead. I don't even get why he was a finalist,
i mean he is a okay singer but acting is something he should leave alone.

Some of you guys need to go wikipedia "Green Lantern" or something. Many characters have been called "the Green Lantern" it's not just one person like Superman or something. It's more of a legacy.

When I was growing up, I used to watch the Justice League cartoon and the Green Lantern always intrigued me the most. His power seemed limited only by what he could think up.

^ All of the Green Lanterns' powers were limited by their own imagination.
Wow. I can't believe they were actually serious about casting Justin Timberlake in the movie. The guy needs to stick to singing.

Wonder whose going to play Carol Ferris (I hope to God it's not Megan Fox like rumors are saying since she cannot act)?
You CANNOT do a movie with Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern without Carol Ferris.

*buzzer*

The one posted above is Hal Jordan, a founding member of the Justice League. The black one, John Stewart came along afterwards. TV's attempt to add some some ethnic diversity among the heroes.

They're all member of the Green Lantern Corps., which has like a whole army of Green Lanterns.

Oh you learn something new everyday. When I was younger I only remembered the Green Lantern being black. I don't know why. I don't even remember a lot of what I watched when I was younger. All I remember is.. that ring was AWESOME. Rofl. In any case, the guy really does look like the character he is trying to portray. Oh jeez.. if they casted Justin Timberlake i'd never watch this movie. :x
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

Green lantern isn't just one guy haha

there's a whole Green Lantern core, I'm abit loose on the whole Green Lantern plot (cause I read Iron fist, Green arrow, all the characters that either have no powers or powers that are quite weak and not as power as superman etc lol) It's kinda like..a intergalactic justice group lol

anyway the Green Lantern Ring chooses it's owner, Hal Jordan was chosen as the Green Lantern as her witnessed the previous green lantern dying and the ring chooses Hal..well I think it was the ring was indebted to Hal but meh don't bash me for the wrong info, the only time i hear about the lanterns is when I'm with my friend (he's a big fan) lol I find the limitations of the ring's quite funny...they can't be used against the color yellow LOL

and since he's doing Green Lantern now, say goodbye to ever seeing a Deadpool movie which I cried about..yes i did cry XD

WOAH! Production hasn't even started for Green Lantern yet but the picture down below is getting me even more excited about the GL movie! It's a FAN MADE image of Ryan Reynolds and what he COULD look like in the Green Lantern movie. I'm still amazed this is fan made. It's so good.

someone last year created a War Machine image from the prototype Ironman suit, It was really well done, fan's were quite fooled for a while till the creator came out and revealed he made it after seeing the film lol

Just a random question for comic book fans out there who enjoy watching the movie interpretations, has anybody else starred in both Marvel and DC movies?? He's the only one I can think of...

Ugh come on people there's more than one Green Lantern sad.gif!

Natalie Portman, V for Vendetta is DC and she just got cast in Thor from Marvel. There's also the obvious Halle Berry as Storm from X-Men but I don't think her "Catwoman" counts since it has nothing to do with the DC character.
