Hello, I've been having a few problems with my computer [of 4 years] for a while now.
For a while, it took numerous times to turn on always restarting after I entered my password, but then this problem miraculously fixed itself.
But now, I have a bigger problem:

Everytime I try to turn on the computer, everything except the monitor turns on - the fans are spinning, the cd/dvd drive is whirring.
It says "no signal" and so I've tried unplugging everything, restarting numerous times, and nothing seems to be working.

Or, on "better" days, it turns on, lets me log in, and then upon loading everything, it freezes and nothing happens, and then the process starts again.

I've read the other topics, but didn't really understand any of them.

So if anyone has any possible solutions, please help!

Have you tried playing with your DVI or VGA cable?

DVI Cables not going to give you the definition but it's the plug that goes into you're monitor. Not the power plug that goes from your monitor to you're power outlet though.

in this case I'll just say DVI and VGA are the same thing >.<

WHat he/she's trying to say is maybe wiggle it around or replug it back in if you can and see hwo that works. At least I think tha'ts what he/she's trying to say.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. I think I fixed it by re-inserting the power supply plug on the inside of the computer, so it tightly plugged into the motherboard.

I also forgot to plug the 4pin power connector from the powersupply into the computer's motherboard and the videocard won't turn on till I plugged it in.

I also was fixing a computer that had a power supply that gone bad which will not display a picture on the moniter, but the fan was spinning . After I replace, the power supply, the moniter can display a picture again.

Try to see if your power supply is workin and plug in properly. replace the video card with a new one. replace your moniter cable if possible, or try out your monitor on a working computer.

I recommend you visit http://freeaplus.com and take a look at professor messor's videos and wikis. They might give you some ideas on how to fix your problem the right way. It is an awesome site for learning about fixing computers and also getting A+ certified.

I've taught about it in my forum...
I consider Flashlight as my good student... hahaha!
And in that case, he didn't fail...
I'd agree with him, followed by NurthinAziz...

If it was a video card problem, there should have been a "beep" whenever there's a hardware problem.
When the screen receives enough power to clearly show the "No Signal" message, it IS turned on and it's clear in your case that it's the DVI (or VGA) cable... I'm almost sure it's DVI.
It should look similar to this cable:

If you don't have any other computer to test the problem out, take that cable and go to any computer store (or stores like BestBuy)...
Ask them that you'd like to know if the cable is still functional and they should test it for you no problem. I'm sure it's dead and they'll find you a new one to buy.

Before anything, while your computer is still on and it's showing no signal (and that you're sure that the DVI cable is very well plugged), play with that cable right behind the monitor. Move it right, left, down, up, just play with it and see if the image is gonna show up at some point. If it does, you can use scotch tape to hold it hahaha... Ghetto.

If not, well you know what to do, just like I said, bring that cable to the store for a test.

Thanks for the help! It's working now, and it did end up being the cable from the monitor [the DVI?]
I should have checker earlier - I'm an idiot.

Anyway, thanks (:
