In other words, do you usually find happiness from within or without?

Here's an interesting article on materialism by US News.

I bought an iPod touch. It made me extremely happy. I just bought a new bike. Very happy about it.

I'm materialistic in the sense that my material possessions make me happy like nobody's business.

I have a line. There's definitely some things I spend money on that make me feel good, but generally speaking no. Sometimes I like to wear nice clothes because it makes me feel good!

On a scale of 1-10... i dunno... maybe a 7?

I'll try my best to make as much money as i possibly can so i can live "comfortably" and then as an added bonus, would try to afford as many luxuries of life as i can. I tend to also frequent with those who have similar values on money and materials. I want to own as many nice things as i can afford.

I have a line too that pretty much dictates how materialistic I can be. It's a credit line.

I feel pretty rather infelicitous when I buy new stuff. Lol. I get sad thinking about all the money I spent when it could have gone elsewhere.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

When I buy something new or something coool I feel happy.
It makes me extremely happy when I buy something cool AND inexpensive.
It's even better when I buy something cool and I end up making it better i.e. attaching cool knobs to drawers, putting paint varnish and mini cooper to my ikea chests.

lol. when I buy something new, it makes me extremely happy.

me too! i get so much more gratification out of finding bargains or spiffing things up, rather than buying them as is. i find that the euphoria that comes after buying something new is short-lived, unless it was hard to find or i fixed it up.

I used to get really happy about getting new things, but now I feel mostly nothing. I just recently got a new cowon mp3 player that I wanted since december (its like 300 dollars? touchscreen, iamoled, 32 gb, etc) but yeah. I also got a laptop that I wanted but once again... shrugs. I sorta felt the same thing when I bought my first coach bag. I never spent that much on a bag before (yeah i know you people have louis vuitton and stuff but I'm a poor college student) and i dunno, i don't really care.
It would suck if I lost any of these but they don't really make me happy.

I think I like act of shopping/buying things rather than the actual items I buy. I love shopping. I don't even try those clothes on until several days later sometimes
URGH don't ever call me honey, love, sweetie, cutie pie, baby, babe, etc. You don't know me and how old I am.

If I had a lot of money, I would just buy the car that gets the most gas mileage

Material things mean comfort and comfort is happiness. I would shoot and kill a burglar trying to steal my plasma TV. No lie.
I won't bother since I won't read the rules and they won't accommodate.

I'm mostly materialistic for anything that makes me craft my visions (feeling super creative), such as my camera or sketchbooks. All other things become secondary when I get into my "let's polish my creativity" mode.

If someone tried to steal my Louboutin collection, I would kill them with my bare hands.

I'm gonna sound crazy, but my designer shoes are my pride and joy. Almost all of them are irreplaceable, or very close to it.

Haha, that reminds me of something that happened to a friend of mine. Her coworker spilled a drink on a pair of satin Louboutins she was wearing. Luckily, she had sprayed them with a fabric protector so they were fine. The next day, the coworker said he was really scared for a minute and thought she was seriously going to kill him. My friend said, "Little did he know that his life was saved by a thin layer of [the fabric protector]."

I'm not a materialistic type of person. I'm happy and satiesfied for what I have. You can make me happy even a simple gift like a love letter or a drawing.
