Hi everyone...
I am turning 21 and I am graduating in May 2010 with a linguistics degree.
I don't expect to get a well paid job under this crappy economy, so I am currently writing business proposal for myself and just hope that one day I can start up my small business wink.gif ...

I am thinking....would introducing zip-car to China be a good idea? Zip-car isn't doing very well in the states,,,and the taxi business is too developed in China...so..... huh.gif I don't know...what about like....selling abercrombie & fitch clothes in China ( Chinese people are so crazy about a&F and there's no a&f store in China..)

I am still trying to "think outside the box"...but dang its hard.......

anyone out there doing the same?
What are the difficulties that you are going through while writing up a business proposal?
What are some of the ideas that you have but you can't do much with them because you don't have enough money?
or do you guys mind sharing business ideas? maybe I will get inspired!

Thank you so much!

Write all your ideas down.

If you have a killer idea and proposal, you don't need money. Money will come to you. Even in this economy, VC money is going out.

That sounds amazing! You sound as if you have a very entrepreneur-like personality.
I have a year left before graduation and though I am bound on the law-school train, I have always wanted to start my own business.

The biggest problem for me is not the money (easy come) but to find someone who equally shares my passion.

the thing is... business genius won't share any of their idea..everybody got their own game plans right....

What are the difficulties that you are going through while writing up a business proposal?
A: Information(s).........sometime i have hard time finding the most up to date info

What are some of the ideas that you have but you can't do much with them because you don't have enough money?
A: Talk to family, relative or friends of yours.......or there's always the credit card~ I have read story about young entrepreneurs use 1x credit cards to borrow money....haha..don't do that unless ur 1000% sure its gona work

Dude, no need to be original. Just open a McDonalds. Big Macs are like crack to fatties and diabetics love the sweet tea.
I won't bother since I won't read the rules and they won't accommodate.

True.

I like this idea except buying a franchise will cost millions. You're better off opening your own chain called, "Whatapig's." Then, sell your special burger which is a 9 strip bacon burger on two thick slices of cheddar cheese topped with sausages and put together in between butter baked buns. Then, to top if all off, stick two more strips of bacon on top of the burger. The extra two strips of bacon will be your burger signature trademark. Market this at $6.66 for a killer combo that includes two sticks of lard garnished with bacon bits and a root beer flavored milk shake.

You can thank me for the idea when you go IPO. I'll get some shares then. wink.gif

How much does it cost to open a McDonald's Franchises?

Total Investment: $950,200-$1,800,000
Initial Franchise Fee: $45,000
Royalty Fee: 12.5%+
Advertising Fee: N/A
Term of Agreement: 20 years
Renewal Fee: $45K

whatever youre doing, try to pick something that will attract a niche

50 page plan? That's brutal.

I think my plan was around 10 pages or so. Got a loan through the local bank, with support of a government stimulus program for small businesses. This was before the recession though, and not in the US.

Or better yet, all of these.. COMBINED! You could play with the rabbits while your computer is being fixed, then bring home some pastries!

I've always wanted to open my own little cozy book store and have a coffee stand right outside of my book store so customers can get their coffee, grab a book and just chill.

you need money to start a business... well, most businesses anyway. I'm heading on the law school train myself (T-14). Why? Cause our average first year pay including bonuses nears 200K. Within 3-4 years, with enough in savings and prudent investment, i hope to have a good starting point and credit score to finance a business... i have a couple in mind, but it requires a not-too-small startup cost. Then again, I'm trying to start a business that will actually make a LOT of money, no offense to maiv's cozy bookstore... i love cozy bookstores.

*clap clap clap*

I would suggest analyzing markets before you write and proposals.
I would also look at your financial life, wants, needs, and goals.

It's really hard to do that, specially in this economy.

Dang, so that means some people start at 400k w/ bonuses?

I want to start my own design firm before I'm 30. I have this idea that I'll find a two/three story live-work loft (with the entire lower floor being an office) to start with just myself and one or two other people. And then once the business grows, I'd find a better commercial space to fit more people.

But for now I'm just getting as much experience as I can.
