Is $200 of allowance a month too much for a senior in high school? I've never gotten any allowance before, but I have to and have been paying for basically everything such as food, haircuts, school finances such as ap tests, etc. Today my dad offered me 200 in allowance a month but I feel like I can't accept the money since he doesn't make too much money. Yet my dad says it's fine...
What's a reasonable amount of money a person of this age should be getting? Oh and I am not allowed to work.

lol when I got allowance, it was like $2 a week. And the only reason I got it was to introduce me to some basic book-keeping skills; after 3 months it was gone.

DANG, I would kill for 50 dollars a week.

I get nothing. LOL. Once in awhile my grandma would give me twenty bucks but that's 20 bucks every 2 to 3 months and sometimes that doesn't even happen but I'm okay with it. Though nowadays I have been wanting to buy new things and I can't afford it.

The only time I can replenish my cash is during Chinese New Year. And most of the money I get during Chinese New year??? I put it into my college fund. -sighs- Well it'll be my first year in college and my dad told me he'll give me a debit card to start spending. Though he warned me he'll keep watch how much I spend. EEEhhhhh.

I personally think you should maybe just take 100 bucks if you feel real bad. Cuz I would feel real bad too if it was me. But it's your choice to either take all, take half, or take none since your dad like you typed needs it.

My parents never really gave me an allowance.
My mom gives me 5$ everyday for lunch and thats 25$ a week.

I never had an allowance, the only way I receive money is through Chinese new year, Christmas, birthdays, and random times when my grandma or mom would give me some money. I would always be so annoyed when kids are like "MY MOM ONLY GAVE ME LIKE $50 OR $100 FOR MY ALLOWANCE!" I'm like I don't get an allowance and you don't see me complaining.

Any who, it really is up to you. I think I would feel bad, maybe you can ask for less and keep insisting on it? Like someone mentioned, maybe $100, $80 or whatever you want.

Well since i'm going uni now, i get $50 a week, which basically for food, transport and my rent fees *dies*.

You're a senior in HS now?
Get a part time job. Like you said, your dad doesn't make much money.
You're old enough to pay for some of your own expenses.

i get 25 to 30 a week when there is school other wise i have to ask...it's such a pain being unage to getting a job =(
my older sis got 200 a month too before she got a job and her situation was a little like yours she had enough to
spend for everyday expanses and she had some left...
you can always accept the 200/month and give your dad the remaining money or tell him to give you less the next month or something =)

I used to get about $50 a week when I was a senior in HS for food and whatnot. My dad was in real estate, and back then, the real estate industry was going really well. I saved most of my money and used it when I really needed it. I've never asked for an allowance either, but I still got one anyway, haha.

I usually get 20 dollars a week. But most of the time, I just ask my parents for money! EASY MONEY! And for lunch money, I usually get 2 dollars since I don't eat at school a lot.

I usually get $20 AUD a week, sometimes $25 or $30.
I hardly eat at school but then snack at the fish and chip store like almost everyday. -.-
It's really hard to save up with only $20 bucks because a decent meal here is like $10-$15 which leaves me with only $5 a week.
