So, a few days ago I went shopping for food with my mum and she puts a apacket of condoms in the basket.

And my reaction, wtf! This is the second time shes done this. Isnt thatthe most embarassing thing ever?

The first time she did, I told her not to do that because I find it completely inappropriate. I dont usually care what people say about me and stuff, but seriously, I can't imagine if the check out person was someone i knew... And she just replied, don't worry, its none of your business anyway. This is the private business between your dad and me.

Duh!! PRIVATE BUSINESS. I do NOT have to know about it! And thats what i told her, and she replies , Look i put it under the cereal.

Whatever she does, it doesnt stop the checkout person swiping it individually across the board. It feels as though the person behind me and infront of me are going to notice.

Am i the only one flipping out about this?? I mean, if shes going to buy condoms, why cant she do it in her own time?! Without letting her child know shes still having sex?! I'm not against it, but i AM against her having it do it at coles?!

Am I over reacting?

edit::
I'm 18 years old, and I just think its realllyy embarassing that she would think its appropriate to put condoms in the grocery basket. Am I really the only one who gets freaked?

But its not like i threw a tantrum and screamed at her not to buy it at the shops, it was more like a whispering "why do you have to buy this here?!" which evolved to more angry whispering when she was like i can if i want to.

And its not like the only time she ever goes out to the shops is to buy food with me! Im not saying she has to buy her groceries, drop them at home adn go back to buy condoms. I mean, she does go out to the bank, to meet her friends and stuff... why does she have to do it when shes grocery shopping with me?!! Wtf, i told her that and shes like i got to buy them when i remember.

I know I sound really immature, but i can actually talk about sex stuff to my mum but it just gets really really awkward and not cool if it talking about sex involves my parents. Doesnt anyone else feel this?! Or do most people think i am over reacting.

I would not flip out, I actually find it normal. My mum talks about her contraception and I'm fine with it.

Plus being a check out chick myself; I find it completely normal scanning condoms; no judgment, actually sometimes I don't even notice I'm scanning condoms lol buying condoms is normal lol meh the people behind you probably won't notice; or they buy condoms themselves! lol not like they're staring directly at your groceries; people in the line usually just day dream while waiting.

Just ignore it; don't dwell on it~ start day dreaming and if you have to put it under the cereal box to stop thinking about it then by all means do it!

Yeah that's pretty inappropriate. Everytime my parents need to do something private, they keep it private... having sex, smoking, etc. Even if I was a parent, I'd do it when they're not there or something.

You're totally overreacting. Your parents like any other adults, have sex like normal people. Atleast she's being safe y'know?

... What? I think your parents can buy condoms whenever they want. So, they have to go out of their way to buy condoms when you're not looking? What a waste of time. Yeah, your parents are having sex. Big deal.

Aiya, a little bit. your mama is right, it is her private business.. but if you really still have a problem with it, get her to stop by throwing in your own pack. and if she asks, just be like. i just wanted some for me and my girlfriend (make one up LOL), it's our private business.

...actually, you'd probably get an asswhooping, so just deal with it - read a magazine at the checkoutlane or something, hahaa.

So then what would you have her do? Make entire separate trips to the store just to buy condoms just because you don't want to see them? I think you're overreacting. It's really not that embarrassing once you realize that not everyone around you notices every little thing you do--or even cares if they do. Chances are none of the people around you even notice the way you think they do when she takes the couple of seconds to take the box off the shelf, and the cashiers don't give a damn because it's none of their business and they see it all the time, anyway. It may be awkward for you, but your mom has every right to buy condoms when she goes to the grocery store if she wants to, and it's not like she's actually having sex with your dad in front of you, they're just condoms for a married couple! I would guess that most of the people in the grocery store who weren't little kids had bought condoms themselves at some point, too.
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

You don't have to make a huge fuss about it either. That's just gathering public attention.

you're overreacting for sure but i understand why that'd be a really awkward situation. but still, this is one of those things you just ignore/don't think about LOL

Yes, it's awkward and she could've been more discreet about it
But its wrong for you to think that your parents are wrong because after all, they're still human with natural urges

How old are you really? Its normal and if you don't want to be seen with a mom that buys condom then step outside first. See, problem solved.

Well.. every child will be freaked out seeing their parents buy condoms... (including adult children), but they don't point it out, they just ignore it. Well.. what can you do. Seeing your mom buy them is better than having a little baby brother/sister

Well, it's awkward but your mom probably figured that you're old enough to understand. Has she had the sex talk with you yet?
