When I work out, I usually start off with fast talking/jogging on the treadmill, with an incline of 5 to 10%, alternating. By the time I do 1.5 miles, I get this intense pain in my foot.
I don't know how to describe it, but it's a pain for a split second.
When you flex your foot upwards, and you feel that muscle, I feel like it gets pulled really sharply, causing great, great pain.
After a cursory look at some foot anatomy diagrams, I think the muscle is the "flexor digitorum brevis"....
Anyway, after I get that pain, I can't keep walking because my foot will be fine, but then that sharp pain will return again.
Ughhhhhhhh it is so frustrating.
My mom said maybe it's because of my shoes (cause sometime it happens when I wear heels or flip flops for a long time) but I'm wearing good Nike tennis shoes, not flats or heels.
Anyone else know what I'm talking about? Is there a way to fix this?

i know that muscle because i've taken anatomy, but in all honesty it sounds like a nerve problem.

i think this used to happen to me ... like, it hurt in the same area as yours
it might not be the same problem though, because it happened to me when i was swimming.
i just stretched it against the wall (with the heel of the foot on the ground, and the toes on the wall)
- like in the position of a ladder against the wall?
i dunno how to explain... lol
then it was fine =]
my old swim coach taught me that.. and he said to drink more water
uh, im probably wrong, its never happened to me on land before...

Try taking the incline off ~ and every 1 mile ~ go back to a walk - treadmill speed 3-4 for approximately 2-3 minutes then run another mile.

ouch, i wish i could tell you something helpful.
i usually get pain in my foot during wrestling practices, but some good stretching beforehand prevents it for me.
