I accidentally omitted a class (AP Statistics) and its grade (D) i got for my 11th grade in my UC application. I don't know what i was thinking when I didn't list that class (but I think i omitted the class and the grade subconciously).. and the college I'm going to for Fall 09 sent an email saying to explain the reason why it was not on my application after they saw my official transcript. They want me to email them back within a week, and I don't know how to write convincingly that it was a stupid mistake. I'm scared that they'll see me as a liar and kick me out. And I don't want to call them since they said to email them back. Please somebody give me some advice! I'm completely lost here

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I'm vacationing in korea, and won't be back for a few weeks so I can't meet with the admissions counselor...

Simply tell them that you forgot to put it on your application and that if they could, include that class on the application for you. It was an honest mistake.

I don't think they'll accuse or kick you out for something like this so there's no need to come up with an elaborate scheme. smile.gif

Just be honest and tell the admissions office that it was
a mistake. I'm sure they'd overlook it. I mean.. It's really
not a big deal. I wish you the best of luck! smile.gif

You're definitely going to have to find something good to tell them. Its the UC system, and they will withdraw your acceptance if the application was incorrect/changed. It is a very serious matter and variation depends on each campus, although in all honesty you will be very lucky if they let you keep your admission. For example, UCSC is one of the toughest in terms of conditions, and they have rescinded students for getting a D in senior year. Your application isn't the same as when it was turned in, so you're having a huge problem. Plus UC are trying to cut slots. Sorry if I sound like an ass, but its reality. Best of luck to you.

^Actually all UCs, not just UCSC, state that if you get a D in your senior year, they can/probably will rescind you

Sad, but true .-. One of my friends got their admission taken away because of a D.

i think she said it was a class from junior year that she omitted.

op: they might still rescind your acceptance [not to scare you, but it's a possibility] but once they mail you the acceptance letter, it says that you must get a c or better in all classes for second semester senior year. the d you got doesn't violate that, as far as i can tell, because it was from the previous year. depending on the rest of your classes/test scores/ec's, they may or may not have accepted you in the first place if they had seen that d in statistics from 11th grade. right now, that's the only way i can think of that the d would jeopardize your enrollment. just do your best to convince them it was an honest mistake.

UCs don't accept D's even though it's a passing grade. MAYBE if you're lucky, they'll let you pass for your honesty. like everyone had said here, just tell them you forgot cuz it's the truth

You're about 50/50 on getting rescinded. Good Luck.

Just tell them the truth b/c it's an honest mistake. You didn't mean to do it on purpose. I made a mistake in my UC application last year when I applied for UCs and I just call the UC admission office and tell about my mistake and they just fix it for me. The mistake that I made didn't really affect my getting into a UC shool as I got accepted into all the UC schools that I applied to. I'm sure there a lot of other applicants make the same mistake as you do. Whether you will get into a UC school or not is based on your overall qualitification, not the mistake that you made on the application or one bad grade in the report, unless that class is one of the required classes.

Did you make up that D later on? If so then just tell them you forgot to list it, because the GPA should be the same anyways if you made up the class.

Other than that, did you list a different GPA on the UC app? If so, then you're getting the boot.
