does anyone know any good chiropractors in NY (hopefully NYC) that treats scoliosis??
i usually go back to taiwan to the chiropractors in taiwan, but i would prefer to get treated here since i can go much more often and would probably get better faster ^^"
so if anyone know any, please do let me know!! i tried some here before (both western and chinese style) and they weren't much help to me >__<"!!

going to a chiropractor CANNOT fix your scoliosis. nothing can but surgery and early treatment with braces or physical therapy
how old are you? have you started your period yet?
if you JUST started your getting your period/havent started your period, you should get a brace or start on getting physical therapy, quick, so the degree can be helped,
if you already have on your period for a few years, its best you go to a physical therapist to get your back muscles strengthened to help the pain (if you have any). my doctor told me that chiropractice has no proof that it can fix scoliosis, but help relieve pressure on your back/pain/discomfort.
for me, my doctor suggested to me surgery or physical therapy because i am too old (im 18) and have started my period years back (started in 7th grade) so brace/curing scoliosis is not an option. ( i regret not going to phsical therapy years back when it was fixable)
but since surgery is too extreme because my degree is just 25, i went for phsical therapy because i had some pain on the upper right shoulder.
if your older and started your period back then and have no back pain, sit/stand/walk straight and hope for the best that your degree dont get worse. if your older and your degree is REALLY BAD - 45ish- and getting worse, get surgery.
if your young and didnt start/just started your period GO TO THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST IMMEDIATELY and/or GET A BACK BRACE. it is treatable!

Actually what you need is a Spine Surgeon.
I work in x-rays and I work with many spine surgeons that specialize in many fields, including scoliosis. Before going to any of these doctors, I recommend going back to the radiology department where you had your scoliosis x-rays taken and requesting film copies or CDs that you can take to the doctor, otherwise you would have to take another set (which is an additional dose of radiation, which could be prevented).

A spine surgeon doesn't necessarily recommend surgery. Spine problem are very common in the US and many cases don't require surgery at all. A spine surgeon is just a spine doctor that can do surgery if needed, it doesn't mean he/she will in your case.
Ideally you only want scoliosis films taken every other few years (like 5-10 year intervals). The radiation from that dose is pretty high and of course ask to be shielded with lead. For a younger person it is very important to be shielded at the gentials. There is no reason why you cannot be shielded duing this exam and don't let the x-ray tech tell you otherwise, believe me I know (I shoot x-rays). Lead breast shields is also recommended, but I know for a fact it can mess up digital scoliosis x-ray films (for stitching), so that may or may not be used...
