I'm going to try the sea salt thing. smile.gif

The rest I will skip out on as it seems my skin freaks out and peels if I don't make sure to moisturize enough (so no peel for me, thanks).
Also, I love makeup so I don't think I'll get away with just rinsing my face. My skin is pretty smooth to begin, but I do have bothersome pores on and around my nose.

Otherwise thanks!

Though I have issues with one thing you said...about not using towels because of germs. I thought most germs are killed off as long as you make sure your towels are drying properly. It's the same reason you leave your toothbrushes with the brush side up. Dead skin might stay on your towel, but I don't think you need to worry about germs. Just wash your towel regularly, using paper towels every day (twice a day?) seems really wasteful.
Haha, sorry to be all mad.gif on that one small point, but people should be encouraged to be green if they can smile.gif

does the glycolic acid peel hurt? maybe it's a stupid question, but with the words 'acid' and 'peel' along with the image of my face and its ohso delicate skin.. crazy.gif i kind of want to buy some to try, but the image of it is just..a little weird for me. can you literally see your skin peeling a little?

I can't really tell but in one of the pics it looks like you had a couple of indented scar, did you? Cause if so, did this regimen help with it?

Thank you for all your nice comments everyone! I was really debating whether to post up pictures of my skin or not, because well..they're not very flattering lol. But I do believe that a picture is worth a thousand words so of course before and after pics are a must! For those of you who purchased the peels (not just glycolic, any peels you've tried) please post here with your experience.

I personally have only tried the glycolic peel, but if you've used any other ones, please please post here to share your thoughts and I will edit my previous post to include your reviews. I think this thread could become a very helpful place for soompiers looking to try facial peels. smile.gif

and you did this every day? (O_O)
do you use the salt as a mask or do you use it as a daily thing

- I did it everyday, I didn't do a mask. I just wipe my face with the salt water and cotton pad and then rinse it off with water and that was it.

QUOTE (MyFishySarangHAEyo @ Jul 24 2009, 11:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
But would the salt water enough to get rid of the sunscreen and the night moisturizer? I have to put on moisturizer at night cuz i have dry skin.

- Since I put it on a cotton pad, I use it to wipe everything away. It worked very well for me. After wiping my face with the cotton pad soaked in salt water (if it's not enough, I do 2 pads or something) I rinse my face off with water :]

Can you get the "Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) 50% Glycolic Skin Peel. " from a drugstore? like Walgreens?

- No, I don't think you can. I've never seen it in store, and since I think only MUAC has it available in that high of a concentration through their online site.

QUOTE (c e l i a . @ Jul 25 2009, 12:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Does MUAC come in a percentage lower than 30%? Cause I think the 30% might still be too harsh for my sensitive skin.

- I think the lowest one on their site is 30% :[ you can try lactic acid peels though? since it's derived from milk, it's milder than glycolic peels. Here's the explanation from MUAC's site:
"Lactic Acids (Alpha Hydroxy)
Derived from milk, milder than glycolic acid, and typically better for working on hyperpigmentation problems. Our formulation contains licorice extract, an effective skin lightening additive. Appropriate for normal, dry, or oily skin. An alpha hydroxy, this peel penetrates the epidermis-only. A good all around peel for the beginner."

QUOTE (jiyongfighting @ Jul 25 2009, 01:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
where can i get sea salt? Lol.

- Any food store, I got mine at Trader Joe's. They should have them at Vons, Ralphs, Albertson, etc.

- It stings a little, I get this really itchy feeling when I put it on. It stings at first, but then after a couple of minutes it starts to itch..but you shouldn't itch it ><; that's all, no PAIN. but then beauty is pain :[ LOL

- Yup, that's why I bought the product. My acne, once gone left me with a lot of "crater" scars. Using the product definitely helped diminish it, not all of them went away though >:[ but with time I hope they will all be gone sad.gif

I liked what you wrote except the part where you wipe with a paper towel. It depends on your skin. You obviously have a very "tough" non-sensitive type of skin, but many people use towels for a reason. It's softer, soaks up the water, and it definitely does not have fibers as scratchy as paper towels. I would rather have suggested buying a set of 10 small handtowels or large handkerchiefs, using one side at a time so you can use each piece 2 times and just washing them once a week.

Aww man! After reading the first post I was so excited to try out the peels for myself but then further down you and some others said it doesn't really help with shrinking pores sad.gif Actually like you said before I've been doing some cheap yet consistent caring of my own skin lately and it has gotten SOOOO much better.. lately I've been slacking so my cheeks got iffy again though T^T But seriously people notice even when i don't say anything. I think maybe I should start documenting my journey too because I know of the things of my routine I've shared with others and they tried it made their skin way better too. However maybe the lactic acid would be good for my chin...? Do you think my skin'd be able to handle starting at 40% of the glycolic peel if it's used to being treated with 6% sacylic acid every night? And of course I know you're not a derma and i should contact mine first but I'm just wondering... since you've used it and like me seem to not have sensitive skin.

oh wow that's amazing
thanks so so so much I really think I will try this smile.gif
oh & by the way, my mom grew up in Florida and she agrees that swimming in the ocean is what kept her skin clear, and she had BEAUTIFUL skin

I have a couple questions though --
can I make a mixture of the sea salt & water and leave it in a container and use that so I don't have to mix it together every morning and night?
what proportion of sea salt & water did you use?

Also, for people who want something with 10% glycolic acid, try this

I went on ebay to check the peel out and in the seller's description, they said that you should not use it if you are under 18. =(
http://cgi.ebay.com/10-Glycolic-Acid-Chemi...4#ht_2938wt_876
so i got scared XD

so my question is: is it safe to use it if you are under 18 and are a beginner?

Baking powder? Really? Does it really work?
If it does, how much would you say? A tablespoon of baking powder?
I don't wanna try out scary stuff yet so ima start with harmless simples ones smile.gif

Also, do you think CVS, Walmart would have Egyptian magic?

- I actually switched, I don't use paper towels anymore, I just buy facial tissues and use those. Paper towels are too expensive I figured lol. But that's true...my skin is pretty buff sad.gif

- You should make a topic like that! I think everyone should share their tips and favorite products, no one likes to try anything w/o knowing if it actually works, so it's nice to have product reviews. 6% salycic acid is a lot lol...and you're right you should definitely contact your derm first. Salycic acid is different from glycolic acid though, so I don't think you should use the fact that your skin can handle a high amount of salycic acid as a base for getting the glycolic peel. For beginners I think it's best that you start out with lactic acid, which is more gentle. You can always leave the lactic acid on longer if it doesn't irritate your skin, and if all goes well you can purchase the sample for glycolic and try it out. It never hurts to be extra cautious :]

- That's what I do, lol I make a mixture and just keep it in a cup and then soak the cotton pad in it when I wash my face :] I don't really have exact measurements, but I do taste it (not drink it..) to make sure it's super salty lol!

- I'm not a dermatologist, so I don't want to tell you what you should and should not do with your skin. You know your skin best, so it really depends if your skin is sensitive or not and if you're willing to take a risk with the peel. If you're a beginner then definitely start out with lactic acid, since it's more gentle than glycolic. Never test directly on your first right away, test it out on a small area first to make sure you're not allergic. Definitely consult a derm though to see if you even need to go so far as an acid peel

I am too!! I bought it a week ago and this is really a magic cream! I had such such such bad skin due to stress, and now its really clearing it up. But you can't only use the cream, what really helps make your skin go clear is exfoliating and cleansing the skin. Using a good soap and exfoliating by using sea salt n water, or other facial masks like queens helene mint mask (omg i love this stuff), or even the aspirin mask. Also, using baking powder on your skin does WONDER - because it kills all the bacteria. And thats what you want to do, cleanse your skin and take out all the bad crap.

And then... the egyptian magic all purpose cream.... my love!! i have only used it for one week, and my face is looking SOOO MUCH better!

thanks for the useful tips! can you further explain about the baking soda? do you mix it with water to use in the form of a mask? and how many times should you do it?
i also read your post about boiling water and sea salt together. how much salt do you boil with water?

and the egyptian magic cream & the glycolic peel.. is that okay for active pimples/acnes on face? cause i have a few pimples plus acne scars that i would love to get rid of if these two products aren't just for scars.. and these are ok for oily skin, right?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR USEFUL TIPS! i went on a spree and bought a huge supply of sea salt and plan on ordering the peels and hunting down the cream tonight.

@.@ $70 for the lotion? Am I reading that price right?

My skin is in the SAME condition as your before, and I don't necessarily have pimples, but more scars, and hyper-pigmentation =___=;;

Uhh Question: My mouth area is a bit darker than the rest of my skin.. if i use the peel will it even out my skin tone on its own or should i apply only around my mouth (which wouldn't make too much sense since my cheeks have scars..)?

Hmm quick question! Is your skin supposed to physically peel (like you can see the skin coming off). I just kept mine on for 1 minute and I saw a little skin coming off although its not irritating at all. Should I wait until it becomes irritating to take it off tongue.gif

I tried the baking powder last night. Since i didn't know how much to put in. I put in about 2 tsp of BAKING POWDER and a bit of water. Actually probably 5 tbsp of water. It turned out to be pretty runny, like water.

But anyway, i dabbed it on my whole face and slept on it the whole night. After the first 5-7 minutes, i had a pimple on my left cheek, it kinda got hard (like when its time to peel off) but i didn't. When i woke up, i can't say that all scars or pimples cleared but more like they...looked less puffier and pink?

-___-; idk, ima try it again tonight. With less water maybe.

Anyhoo, Whole foods? I live round Indiana and Kentucky.
