How Do You Decide To Stick Around With An Anime?

Most people don't like slow starts. They'll decide if they are interested in a series or not. For me, I try to see if I see any potential in the anime and what I might get out of it later to evaluate things. Anything the anime has that compels me I'll see through it to the end. I'll quit if I don't think I can go on.

generally, i see how many episodes there are.
(i normally don't like to watch long series since i get bored after a while)
however, there are exceptions (such as Naruto)
that i'm actually able to keep up with lol.
(it's not really overwhelming atm since it's basically something new every week)
but if i had to mass watch all the episodes, i probably wouldn't? XD
hundreds of episodes all at the same time would be tiring for me.
i generally like anime that starts out in an interesting way.
i'll watch a few episodes and if i'm really not feeling it (the pace doesn't pick up),
i'll probably drop it, and maybe come back to it later.
but, for the most part, a fast moving plot is good.
i mean, i wouldn't drop it RIGHT away,
but if i see no real progress after a few episodes,
and i can't take it anymore, then i would give up : P
i barely ever drop an anime on the first episode.. unless it's REALLY bad haha.
hm, there's a lot of series that have a lot of suspense.
these are sometimes good because it makes me want to see what happens next,
IF i'm interested in the storyline.
also, a lot of series are really funny so i'll watch to see what else will happen.
i tend to like anime with lots of action or mystery because it keeps it exciting.
when a new anime comes out, i'll read the description for it.
if it sounds interesting, i'll give it a chance. (:

pretty what mizzxangie said applies to me too...but the main difference for me is that i've found myself starting an anime and about half way through the first ep i would drop it and that applies for half of the animes that i watch...
and another very important thing for me to stick to an anime is that i expect alot from them like the graphics(they have to be good),the characters heve to be appealing and the plot line has to be good...any anime that meets two of the points then i would give a try but sometimes i would still find myself dropping the anime...

This process repeats until the final episode.
Induction on anime episodes?

if, let's say, i used to like this anime then halfway it sorta fails to catch me anymore, dropping will depend on how many episodes there is left. if i decided to drop it when i've watched 16 of 25 episodes, i will continue to watch it ^^
my process is complicated, yes or yes?

sowhut. the first thing that i search in an anime is the genre.
the anime CANNOT be: romance, magical powers, sports
the anime HAS TO BE: sci-fi, horror, suspense, comedy, and ok some fantasy but not too much
i like animes with serious stories, or something interesting/different.
i get tired of some magical things like WITCHES WHO BATTLE AGAINST THE DARKNESS
but i like KUROSHI.TSUJI because there's a demon!butler. wut?
plus i seriously love bloody animes.
i pay a lot of attention in how the characters were made.
and i don't like animes with 100+ episodes. i think the only ones i watched with soooo many episodes were inuyasha, pokemon, digimon and etc because because... THEY ARE KICKASS ANIMES AND EVERYONE GOT TO WATCH THEM. lol childhood rules.

I'll ask another question. How would you decide to go back for an anime you quit on?

For me, I think it depends on how interested I become in it. If I like it then I stick with it. If I find something I don't really like then I stop watching it unless I get bored enough and want to pick it up again.

+1 I do the same + depends on how active the torrents are of the anime I want to watch. Even If I like the anime I wont finish it if it is too much of a pain to download it. I dislike streaming anime online because I am a videophile.

Also I was born in the 80's and so I have a preference for the old cartoon style where a episode was: plot, setting, main characters, and resolution. Thats why I like Detective Conan, Shin Chan, Air Master, and etc.
So overall I like straight to point animes, however, I'll watch a long one if 90% of the episodes are fulfilling.

This apply to almost every single anime i've watched except few (e.g. naruto)
Other than that is the fact I've watched the preview and find its awesome
and this is one way i rarely use, spoilersss

Naruto and Sailor Moon are very very good animes, and i recommend it, but for myself I've never finish the ending cause it's so LONG.
