Let's say a family or your friend hosts you to dinner. And then they are ordering and they turn to you and ask "Ok, why don't you order one dish? Order something you like ok?"
Then you go: "um... ok let's have the LOBSTER.."
what happens to your friends' eyes? What do they say?
How to avoid awkwardsness ><

That has never happen to me because I always feel uneasy ordering something expensive whenever someone else is treating.

when someone is treating me to lunch/dinner,
i try to look for something equal to or less than $10.
especially when they theirselves ordered something not above that ;_;

If someone else is treating me I would never order the most expensive thing on the menu.

Even when I'm with my family (like my brother), I feel uncomfortable ordering something more expensive than their dish unless we're sharing it.
Truth be told, I have never had lobster in my life because I just don't see the luxury in it.
If you reaaaaaaally want lobster, ask them if it'd be okay for you to order it first instead of just ordering it off the bat.
Or even better!
Pay for it yourself

because i've been in that situation before. like...my friend came to dinner with my mom and i, and she was like "OH! LOBSTER!"
and my mom got really pissed... :/
but yeah..i just don't think people should just go and order the most expensive thing just because YOU'RE not paying for it

I always order something cheaper than their meal - family and friends.

the only way to avoid awkwardness is to not order something so expensive.
when my friends treat me to lunch or dinner, I make sure the price of the food I order is not more than their's
the only time I order something expensive is when I'm with my family
