Perhaps to a God, or for religious purposes?
Or do you do it when you feel all too hopeless and things seem to go downhill.
I noticed religious and non religious pray, but religious people it's more of practice i think.
And for the non religious, they do it in times grieving and anxiety.
Whether it may be deeply serious, or it could be an exam, or something.
Or probably they need help or guidance.
Please give me thoughtful and constructive responses please.
Anything inappropriate and inconsiderate will be removed as to not offend others

I just started to read the Bible, pray , and do my daily QT's again and I feel like my life is starting to come back together. Just because I'm Christian, I don't force myself or think of it as an obligation to pray. Most people don't understand that praying is a two way communication and that you do 'hear' back from Him. I have experienced the power of prayer first hand and understand how important it is in my life. I think of it as this: If I had the chance to talk to someone who knew everything past & present, had the ultimate power of changing anything in this universe, and is actually actively a part of my life, why would I pass up the opportunity?

No offense to anyone who gets some kind of benefit from it.

I guess you can infer that I must be praying 24/7.

When we were infants and felt danger, fear, or was in need, we reached deep into our hearts for a scream or noise. Every time we did that, a mysterious set of arms would reach down for us and comfort us. It would give us love and exactly what we needed. It's not a coincidence that we continue that behavior well into adulthood and beyond, "praying" to be heard or helped by a mysterious being in times of hopelessness and despair.

That's a nice way of putting it.
I think I'll always remember those "set of arms" that comforted me many times during my times of need as an infant.
Too bad I never was given the identities of all those trash dumpster collectors.

Live and eat on this day. Live and eat on this day.

I know for some people religion/praying is just a ritual but I suppose the point is to internalize one's actions.

and when I do at funerals or wherever unfortunately it's not sincere..i don't see how it could be if I don't believe in any god, but if it makes people feel better sure why not I'll pretend..dont want to be that Richard who stands up and broadcasts my atheist beliefs to the whole congregation while everyone is praying
