At the time I lived within the school grounds and most areas are "dry" which means no drinking or smoking but when people turn 21, i would say 90% of the time, liquor is involved so we had to be somewhat creative.. especially since 2 of my good friends were turning 21 within 4 days of each other, so a triple 21st birthday party was in order tongue.gif

1) Figure out the schedules of all the RAs (upperclassmen who were hired to ensure all dorm rules were folloewd)
2) Become buddy buddy with those RAs who would be on duty during the night of our party
3) Disassemble all the furniture in our 6-person suite
4) Somehow transform it into an area which would let max capacity of about 15-20 people, fit 100+
5) Fun tongue.gif

All-in-all, was a pretty fun couple hours, I was.. "sleeping" before midnight hehe - as they say, When in Rome..

I'd have to say that a week after turning 21 though, I already felt old and 2 years later, I would still say that spending time with your good friends is still one of the best moments you can experience tongue.gif

I went to an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and ordered massive amounts of Bulgogi and Soju. We then migrated to the karaoke rooms to sing along to the Backstreet Boys.

See that sounds awesome to me!!! Food, alcohol and music = good laughs!

I feel bad, reading through these, it appears a lot of people didn't really have a good time on their 21st...Or at least not an exciting one... I had three, my 16th & 18th in England and 21st in America.

I took a trip to LA with a 8 friends and got a hotel suite. We went to dinner, went to a few bars met a bunch of people but then got sort of tired of paying so much money for alcohol so we stopped at a Safeway, grabbed a bunch of 30's and maybe 2 handles and went back to the hotel with about 5 other people we had met and just sort of had a hotel party!

The best thing to do on a 21st birthday is to just make sure you're surrounded by friends having fun. I suggest for those who want to drink on their 21st to just buy a bunch of alcohol and throw a house/hotel party. It's much cheaper and more fun (less dramatic and chaotic) then going out on the town. If you want to use your card out for the first time then go out to dinner and buy a drink there.

I went to 3 classes, skipped out on my last one, and then went to work the night shift. My boss bought me beer and vodka though, and relieved me from duty for most of the night, so it was all good. laugh.gif

i had a lot of fun on my 21st last month
i jsut called out a bunch of my friends, including ones i haven't seen in months
i dont drink too much and i've never been drunk (until my birthday) my friends were on a mission to get me trashed, and they succeeded.
we went to a bar, had fun. i didnt need anything too crazy. just a lot of alcohol and all my friends.
i ended the night throwing up at the mcdonalds drive through and passing out at my friends house...waking up with a terrible terrible hangover too. but it doesnt matter. it was the best night ever.

I never threw a party for my birthdays after my 18th. Just the fact that I'm getting so old annoys me. So for my 21st, my parents asked me "what do you want for your big 21st birthday?!?!?!" I told them I didn't want anything, I didn't want to throw a party to remind me of my old age. (Gosh I wish I was... 16 again, lol.) But they wouldn't stop talking about how it's an important age, blahblahblah... so I said "ok I want to go Japan with my friend". Then it really happened, they bought me tickets for my trip to Osaka.

my sister in law just turned 23 last week and shes like "i'm so oldd"
and i tease her saying "i'm 21. im so young" hahaha
second chances they dont ever matter, people never change
once a hoe you're nothing more, i'm sorry, that'll never change

It was either driving to grad school or just settled in the new apt, but I haven't been big on celebrating bdays.

i was 18 when i had a big party - the time when a girl becomes a woman.lol.

my 21st was simple. i had dinner with my family. my friends surprised me that night. days after, we also ate at the same restaurant. then i went out with my cousins at a local bar and headed to a friend's hotel to continue the drinking. i spent a lot actually but it was all worth it.

This is a good thread, I'm actually trying to get some ideas for my 21st party next year.

I've never really hosted a great party before and I'm kind of hoping to actually do something enjoyable that my guests will never forget. In Australia our legal age is 18 but 21 is still a big one here because it means you're an adult or something.

So far all I've thought about is hiring a hummer and having a mini party inside where we can get tipsy...apparently it has an entertainment system (karaoke) and stuff so yeah BUT I have no idea WHERE to go. I was thinking maybe going up to the hills and looking down on the city lights but my bf thinks it's boring? I'm only inviting 13-14 people (including me) because of the hummer capacity. Where should I take my guests and what should we do? I'm going to have it the weekend before my birthday (my birthday is on the 18th of January and I'm leaving to Canada on the 19th so I can't really be hungover on my flight lol). But on my actual birthday I'm just going to invite a few close friends over to play PS3 (Rockband, Singstar etc) cause it's fun.

I would rent an apartment/hotel but the last time I did for my 19th birthday, a friend (found out he had a terminal illness) got depressed at the apartment that night and drank a whole bottle of vodka getting seriously drunk and then start hurting himself and my male friends had to get him to the bathroom where he vomit and urinated all over (which they cleaned up as well), I was really freaked out about having to pay for damages so that's the risk of renting hotel rooms. So yeah...also my parents are hell anal about me sleeping somewhere else besides at home even though I'm 20 y.o this year.

So I don't know what to do!!! I also what a black and white theme lol but I'm wearing red or some bold colour!

my 21st is next week + a day. I'm planning to go to my friend's bbq then go home and do dinner with the parents then go to happy hour, play some pool, get buzzed. Then hit up Dave and Busters to play some expensive arse arcade games while drunk and then maybe go to a club, MAYBE. or just go back to the pool hall and get trashed there poking the balls ;P

apparently there are 2 other parties going on that day so i'm just going casual with a few close friends and anyone who wants to chill with me instead of go to frat parties and what not. lol

LOL how funny that my 21st was 2 days ago!

I had a big dinner w/ all my friends however being a September birthday I'm the oldest out of my class/grade etc whatever you call it. So only 2 of my girl friends went out w/ me to the bars. We went to a lounge/club/bar kinda thing first where I had lots and lots to drink and lots of fun. Then we migrated to a different bar where I spent the whole time puking. I puked otuside that bar. When we left the bar I puked in the car which I am SOOOOOO IN DEBTEDLY SORRY TO MY FRIEND AHHHH. Puked outside 7-11. Oh my goodness I thought I was gonna die puking my lungs out lol. Its so funny to think now but at the moment it was NOT funny. Then I passed out in my friends car. Woke up and was moved to my friends house where I knocked out again on the bed. got Rewoken up at 5:30 am from my best friend saying "WAKE UP its not for you it's me my mom's gonna kill me!!" hahahaha. I somehow treaded inside my house by myself. Thought I was pretty good, ran to the bathroom and puked the last time. Lucky for me my parents did not hear me lol. Fell into deep slumber and woke up with the biggest hangover in my life it lasted a good day lol.

My friends goal was also to get me like this. Mine was to not throw up. I lost.

And now here I am! haha

i spent it cleaning and dusting our new crap dusty dirty house with my mom in our pj's in 60 *C weather. sweating like a pig, taking 5 showers respectively, and then passing our on the marble floor with no beds, that just collected dust right after cleaning.
and then having my mom remember its my birthday the day after.

" no mom, YESTERDAY was my birthday, but thanks anyways for shifting the disks in my back, reallllly good bday present"

laugh.gif

my 21st bday was also on the 21st of june tongue.gif

I got a table for 20 at Old Chicago and drank a bunch of their beer flights with some guy friends of mine. Then after that we played rock paper scissors to see if we would go bowling or go back to my apartment for drinks. So we went back to my apartment to drink, then I think we turned on the PS3 and then after that I don't remember anything but me waking up on the floor of my room, lol =P

surprisingly, my 21st birthday was the most low-key out of all my birthdays in recent memory..my friends surprised me with a cake and a bunch of gifts at my apt..I was really really surpised and touched smile.gif it was a school night so we didn't go crazy but that weekend we just went out for dinner and drinks, probably just 10 people. my other birthdays right before and right after always consisted of getting extremellyyyy drunk, lots of lap dances from friends and club hoppers I did not know, and collapsing on my bed with my stilletos on haha.

buuut if you want a nice bday bash in style, the most common way to go is just get a bottle or two at a nice club that also serves good food..depending on how much that club charges, I don't know the rates in your area. or you can do a large brunch party that has unlimited mimosa/bellini/screwdriver specials. ain't nothing like drinking in the daytime and having eggs on the side wink.gif It's your day you should decide what you want to do, you're princess for a day biggrin.gif

rented out a bowling alley at Chelsea Piers in NYC.
most of my friends weren't 21 yet so there really wasn't much we could do.
but i believe my most exciting birthday was actually my 23rd.
karaoke, fancy restaurant, bar, lounge.
i don't like to party but i love to be with my girls. smile.gif

Mine was awesome. It was on a Sunday so not much bars or clubs were open so instead we all went to dinner. Then on the following Thursday we all went to a bar and they all tried to get me drunk. Fun stuff.

I did a joint party with a friend who was also turning 21 during the same month as me. We did a VIP party at a club, It was only $300 per person, so it wasn't too bad, but I had an awesome night.

If I could do it again, I most likely would not have done it LOL. I would've just went out with my friends and have a good time. Or I would've went to a bigger city and just party ALL WEEKEND biggrin.gif But it's really up to you. It's your 21st birthday, have an AWESOME night biggrin.gif
