because my mom bought me a gold ring today and it fits my ring finger perfectly
but i dont want to give wrong signals and make it seem like its a couple thing

i hope not, cuz my mom gave me one of her simple silver bands (which can cause some misunderstandings >_<) and i really like it.

hmmmm, well that usually applies to older adults. i mean, where i live, we're not too big on the "promise ring" thing. and even if a girl had a ring on her 4th finger, i think her relationship status would be indicated thru her actions. single girls would prob be more open and flirty. taken girls would prob be more aware of and careful about their actions.

I can't remember which hand is for marriage for the life of me, but I never pay attention so maybe others might not either.
Most (at least I think..) would find out from people if a specific person is taken or not or something.

Most of the time I meet new guys they ask me if I'm engaged/married because I wear rings on both my right and left ring fingers.

yes, generally if you have a ring on your right hand's ring finger, people will think you're taken.

and people, it's not about why you have your ring on your ring finger, it's what others might think. and i have several people tell me they thought i was taken because of it. (i wore it for a period of time back in high school). i just thought that ring looked best on my ring finger but it means something to other people so, yea.

if i were to see a girl with a ring on her ring finger, i wont jump to conclusions right away but i would also think she might have a bf as well. this goes for guys too

I wear a ring on my right hand finger. Supposedly somewhere in Europe, wearing the ring on the right hand means that you're married. That's what a customer told me when she saw my ring. She thought I was married. hahaha

haha i dont think they send any kind of message out. i've been wearing a ring on my right hand ring finger for years and the worst case senario is that someone will ask me if i have a boyfriend or if its a promise ring. otherwise, its not something to really think about :] just some nice jewelry that so happens to be on that finger haha
