I'll be a freshman at the university of washington this fall and i plan to major in psychology; however,i have NO IDEA what classes to register for first quarter/ freshman year. my orientation is on august 10-11th which i will receive information on how to register for classes and i'll have the chance to talk with an academic advisor,, but i want to have some basic knowledge of what classes i should take before i go. i heard that B.A. in psychology is more for psychologists? and B.S. is more for researching and the medical field. oh, and do i have to take classes for my major right away during freshman year? or can i do pre requisite classes freshman year instead? i'm so clueless on this whole college thing >_< thanks in advance to anyone to replies!

for that case, u can probably look up to see if there is a topic on uni. of washington on college students thread... i think soompi might have one. (i'm not sure) and u can ask fellow students who are already in ur uni.
OR u can call ur college and ask for administration counselor with ur questions

You can, and should do your prerequisites/general education requirements your freshmen year. You can also try to fit in a intro psychology class (if you don't have AP credit) to see if you still want to pursue it as your major.
Typically the difference between a BA and BS in terms of school work is that a BA is easier to get (less classes to take). I'm not sure how specific that gets because I'm not a psychology major. In my department, the BA is easier and the variety of classes you take is up to you. BS is harder (more upper level classes) and meant for people who want to go into a math-related field and/or grad school.
