I just noticed something. Flying stresses me out. Not when I'm flying, well, before a flight I freak out but once I'm on the plane I'm fine.
It's when my family members fly, I stress out, actually freak out. I obsessively check the flight status to see if they land and I don't sleep or do anything until I know they're safe. I've been like that since I was little, always freaked out when my family members fly (especially overseas). I understand it's illogical, I think it's a stupid thing to feel but I can't help it. I literally will not breathe easily until I get that little "arrived" notice on the screen.
Is anyone else like that? Something illogical, that has stressed you out since you were a kid, no reason for it all - you're just abnormally anxious about it.
(On a side note: my mom's plane just landed in Taiwan and I'm still freaked out because she still has one more leg of her journey to go, so I won't relax until she lands at 9 tonight. WHY am I like this?)

Sounds a little obsessive-compulsive. You might want to look into some counseling.

I remember seeing a girl on a flight wrap her head in pillows and was leaning forward against the seat in front of her, seemingly bracing for impact during take-off and landing. It was quite the scene but she's obviously distraught from flying in general and got permission to do whatever she wanted from the flight attendants. That's the most extreme case of flying i've seen.
That said, i've boycotted EVA Air myself. That one time i took them, they did a three bounce landing where the third bounce was so high and crazy, i swear, it felt like they would definitely run out of landing strip to stop the plane.

^^^that doesn't help, my mom is on Eva right now. I tried to convince her to take Korean, I even offered to pay for first class if she took Korean or Cathay Pacific, but she insisted on Eva.

Whole time i was on Eva, Wall-E's voice wouldn't go away in my head, "Eeeeeva... Eva?! ...Eeevaaaaaaaaa..." Insane man! If i had access to a parachute, i wouldn't took a chance at the emergency door and tried to land in Taiwan myself... (i'm only half serious.)
Oh also, not sure who's bright idea it was in corporate Eva but the seats are only made for the typical Asian. Being 6'-0" and considered tall there, i had freakin no leg room and was practically sitting shoulder to shoulder with the next guy. Flying with a 3 hour wedgie and bounce landings was not a great experience.

when i was younger and my parents left home for a few hours until late at night, i could NOT relax or even sleep until they got back safely. i'm not like that anymore, but i can def still get extremely anxious over things that may seem trivial to other people.. cause i guess its just the kind of person i am.
i guess it'd be best to hope your family members don't have to fly too often
just know that there's less chance of plane crashes than there are car accidents.

I feel the exact same way. Everytime my parents or my siblings are on an airplane I get anxious and I'm constantly checking the news to make sure there are no reports of any crashes or other mishaps involving any flights. I think all this stress stems from the fear of losing someone you love which is definitely one of my biggest fears. I don't worry about myself as much when I'm on an airplane, I usually relax and get comfortable as soon as the plane takes off.
On a side note, I took Eva when I went to Taiwan in May and it was perfectly fine. The flight was smooth, no turbulence, and overall pretty comfortable for such a long flight.

yeah usually OCD-ish things are caused by stress. so maybe you're stressed out about something else, in actuality.
i used to not be able to go to sleep until the apartment was vacuumed for the second time at least, that day. i would piss my neighbors off at 2am in the morning. but seriously, i would lie in bed and think about the dust that was supposedly on the floor.
but since i quit the job i had then, i'm fine now.

Man, when I fly the only thing I stress out over is if I have BO or end up being seated next to somebody that has it.
Once more into the buffet
Into the last good bite I'll ever know

Live and eat on this day. Live and eat on this day.
