BEAST reveals the experience of 6 people living together.

BEAST started living together about 3-4 months ago. In their latest interview with Newsen, they remarked, “We finally know what newlyweds are talking about when they say ‘Even the way we squeeze toothpaste is different.’”

“Living together is really fun. Lately we don’t have that much time to be at our apartment, but depending on the neatness of each member, we suffer or don’t suffer.”

In BEAST’s apartment, there is a “District 13”* – the clothing room. Trying to organize the clothes of 6 boys is useless. The members “just quietly close the door because we can’t look at it.”

The BEAST member who takes care of neatness, Yong JunHyung said, “At first, I planned on just keeping my area clean, but my cleanliness spread. I threw away the members’ stuff that was lying around and did other harsh things, but they didn’t even blink an eye. Instead, they started disobeying even more.”

“Truthfully, there isn’t anyone who is messy. If I ask, “Who did it?” they all deny it. At first I was I was hurt, but now I accept it.”

Today’s singers do not just sing. They take control of variety shows and boast speaking skills that rival the skills of gagmen. Does BEAST have interest in entertainment? The members picked golden hair Yang Yoseub and leader Yoon Dujun as the members who are full of entertainment skill.

“I had a lot of interest in entertainment. But it seems like it could be difficult. Timing is important. I don’t even know if I have entertainment skill. I’m the type who is funny while I ruin my image, so I’ll have to study hard. My shoulders are heavy. (laughs)” (Yo Seub)

The members say, “Yoseub is really funny, but unfortunately, instead of impersonating celebrities, he only impersonates people like our company chief, manager, and company workers. Even if he wanted to, he can’t show his skill on broadcasts.”

BEAST (Yong JunHyung Son Dongwoon Jang Hyunseung Yang Yoseub Lee Kikwang Yoon DuJun) made an electric debut with their title song, “Bad Girl.” They are only rookies, but instead of extremely nervous expressions, they perform with confidence and have already garnered fans from Japan, Taiwan, China, and other nations.

With performances this coming October 24 on MBC “Music Core” and October 25 on SBS “Inkigayo,” Beast will continue their pursuit of popularity.

In a recent interview with Newsen, Jang Hyun Seung, Yoon Doo Joon and Lee Ki Gwang of the rookie group BEAST delved into their past and shared new pieces of information about themselves that were unheard of before.


Many people who are already familiar with Jang Hyun Seung know that he trained under YG Entertainment to become a member of Big Bang, but was eliminated before he got the chance to debut with them. It's been quite some time since then, but Jang Hyun Seung was finally reunited with his fellow trainee and good friend, G-Dragon (real name: Kwon Ji Yong) on last week's broadcasting of SBS 'Inkigayo.' While the Big Bang leader was present on the show for his solo activities, Jang Hyun Seung was preparing for his group's debut performance. They met up again after rehearsals and caught up on what they missed during their time apart.

"After not being able to debut with Big Bang, I hardly kept in contact with them, but I saw Ji Yong hyung for the first time in 2 - 3 years," the vocalist of BEAST admitted. "He seemed really happy that we would see each other more often from now on. Initially, it was slightly awkward since we haven't seen each other in so long, but he has always been good at taking care of me." Jang Hyun Seung will also encounter Taeyang of Big Bang, as the latter is expected to make his solo comeback on 'Inkigayo' on the 25th.

Of BEAST's showcase on the 15th, he said, "I was so nervous the night before that I only slept for 30 minutes. Out of 10 points, I would give my performance a 3. I was really disappointed. However, I think the performance on 'Music Bank' on the 16th was better than the showcase. Being on a live music program feels a little strange, but I still think it was better."

He also described his inspirations for becoming a singer in the first place as he has obviously endured much to reach the point he is at now. "When I was young, I developed a dream of singing after watching Seotaiji and Boys and H.O.T. Since then, I have not thought of doing anything else besides becoming a singer."

Jang Hyun Seung has come a long way from the hopeful kid in his 2nd year of junior high.

Likewise, Yoon Doo Joon of BEAST revealed his own reason as to why he decided to pursue a career in the cut-throat entertainment industry.

"Actually, I used to play soccer during junior high. My dream was to become a high school P.E. teacher," he claimed. "I gained a lot of weight during junior high. But during my 1st - 2nd year of high school, I went on a diet and lost most of it."

When asked how his dream of becoming a P.E. teacher was radically changed to becoming a singer, Yoon Doo Joon replied, "I saw MTV's 'Big Bang Documentary.' I always enjoyed singing and dancing, but watching people of my age chase after their dreams was really admirable."

Ironically, the eliminated member of Big Bang, whom Yoon Doo Joon watched on the small screen and felt inspired by, ended up being a part of his own group. Isn't it funny how fate works sometimes?

Yoon Doo Joon continued, "My teachers and parents all said I couldn't [become a singer]. However, after incessant pleading and crying, I enrolled in a music school. I attended many auditions and worked extremely hard, in hopes of becoming a singer."

It is widely known that Yoon Doo Joon was featured in the reality program 'Hot Blood,' which consisted of members from 2PM and 2AM who were preparing for their debut at the time.

"During the training days of 'Hot Blood,' Im Seul Ong (2AM) and I would always eat midnight snacks together," he recalled of the experience. "At the time, it felt like such a long period, but now that I think about it, it was only a brief moment."

As a final closing message, Yoon Doo Joon said, "Since we [BEAST] just took our first step into the K-pop scene, we will start to run at full force. This is only the beginning of our performances so it will be good to anticipate a new side of us from now on."

Unlike the previous two members who briefly tested the water before joining BEAST, Lee Ki Gwang was already swimming laps. Having released two songs from his debut album "First Episode: A New Hero," Lee Ki Gwang was definitely no one new to the stage. The 19-year-old artist gained a relatively good amount of fans during his solo activities and was even deemed to be the next Rain / Bi. However, with his official membership in BEAST, AJ sacrificed his solo career to share his fame and success with 5 other members.

"To be honest, it's very fun," answered Lee Ki Gwang when asked about his reaction to joining a 6-member boy band. "I am less nervous on stage too, as opposed to when I was alone. During practices, I can direct my focus on a specific part that is appropriate for me. Even the practices are more fun with other members. When I traveled alone, it was always quiet, but now I am able to eat with the group and create a ruckus."

The member with the "chocolate abs" added, "Because of my individual schedule, there were many times I felt apologetic towards the others." Due to his acting role in MBC 'The Unstoppable High Kick' / 'High Kick Through the Roof,' Lee Ki Gwang wasn't able to practice with the group sometimes. "To the members who were understanding [of my situation], I am sorry and thankful."

The boys all seem to have experienced their own share of hardships and suffering, but, as the old adage goes, "all's well that ends well." Some may view BEAST as a team of rejects, but such an ignorant comment implies that people are drinking too much haterade have not yet witnessed the talent each member possesses. With successful album sales and a rapidly growing fanbase, BEAST seems to be one of the emerging groups in 2009 with a promising future ahead of them.

JangHyunSeung of BEAST expressed his expectations for activities together with BigBang members.

In his latest interview with NEWSEN, HyunSeung said "We (B2ST) and BigBang members will probably see each other at the same broadcast" and "It will be really fun if we (B2ST and BigBang) do have an overlaping activity."

JangHyunSeung appeared on BigBang's reality show before they about to debut in the music industry. But after HyunSeung got eliminated from being a BigBang member, and the waiting time was harsh.

Meanwhile, HyunSeung met G-Dragon (Kwon JiYong, BigBang) on last October 18th SBS Inkigayo. Beast was doing their first stage and G-Dragon was doing his solo activity. The two also met separately after rehearsal but the story of the meeting has not been shared.

"Since BigBang debuted, I have not been in contact with them for 2-3 years. And that was the first time I met JiYong Hyung. He said 'From now on, 'we will be seing each other again oftenly in the future' and this makes me glad. We haven't seen each other for a long time so we were a little awkward and I was touched."

On the next SBS Inkigayo, BigBang's TaeYang will also make a solo comebac. Jang HyunSeung, just like with G-Dragon last time, will also meet TaeYang.

Since he was young, watching SeoTaiJi and Boys, and H.O.T makes HyunSeung wants to be an artist. A lot of Kids switches their dreams along the way, but for HyunSeung, "I have never thought of anything else beside being a singer."

"On the October 15th showcase, There was a lot of tension and I cannot sleep, maybe only 30minutes of sleep. maybe I would rate it 3 points out of 10? There were a lot of mistakes and shame. On the 16th 'Music Bank' was better than the showcase, i think. Being on a live Music program feels kinda weird. But I still think it was better."

"It seems like i was wearing a bag of sand on the stage" he said of the tension during the first time on stage. It's been so long since he first started practicing as a trainee. And now, with BEAST, JangHyunSeung has matured and ready.

Beast LeeKiKwang, "Because of 'HighKick' shoots, I'm sorry to the members"

BEAST Lee KiKwang who is active on SitCom and Music Program feels guilty for leaving his members.

In an interview with Newsen, KiKwang said "I'm Sorry to the member because of my personal schedules". KiKwang stars in a hit sitcom "HIGH KICK THROUGH THE ROOF" and he actually recieved good feedback from his acting as KangSeHo.

KiKwang also said "Because of the shooting, I cannot practice with the members" and "I'm really sorry and thanks to the members who wants to understand". The members reaction to this is, "KiKwang did well with BEAST, too well."

When they were asked if they monitor KiKwang in 'HighKick Trough the roof, they all answer all together, "NO."

LeeKiKwang carried out a solo album during his activity as solo singer AJ before BEAST. During that time, his appearance was rather quiet. However, with 5 people supporting him as members, he has regained much more spirit.

"Actually, I'm excited. It was a burden when I have to do it alone. But now, since I'm practicing with others, I have fun. When I was alone, It was always very lonely, but now, I can eat and chat with my members."

Being experienced in solo activities more than other members, KiKwang can be said as the Senior to these boys. Did KiKwang give any advice to the members
before the first music broadcast?

"YoonDooJoon and YongJunHyung were featured on stage during my solo activity. YangYoSeob was also there as a dancer. Rather than giving advices, We together says Fighting as we went up the stage. We trust each other that we all able to do it well."

A shame that Beast Is The B2ST is too short for a full perf but it would be great if they used it for a intro. I also wish they do at least one performance of Mystery in the future, I feel it could lead to some fierce dance moves.

I also wonder when will they start going to radio shows and such. They are still new for variety
shows, but at least some radio.

The intreviews were such great read. I feel bad for Kikwang, because he ends up missing out
on a lot of things the group does. Which kinda sucks. I saw their team work is really good, so that
makes me less worried.

hahahaha!! the members are soo mean! I'm sure they watch him when they can..I mean High Kick is
a daily drama, so they might not have time to watch everyday.
