I am a student from UC Davis, not so much of a fashion school, but we do have fashion shows. We throw one every year (Charity purposes) and would invite many designers from different school. So I was wondering, what events do other colleges have or provide? Would you guys like to have fashion shows at your school?

I went to West Valley and their fashion club... seems to restart from the beginning every year lol so now they're finally made a binder and record what the club does... They do have fashions shows.. but I have not attended. I know the club had some hooks up, so the members got to help with a professional fashion show at Santana Row. (they got to pick out the clothes from each store, helped with dressing the models, set up of the of stage and ect.)

my school has a fashion program so we do have annual fashion shows(called portfolio in motion, and each show is themed), and usually the fashion dept invites a designer for every show and last year was Peter Som, we also had Carolina Herrera, Cynthia Rowley bla bla ya kno.
as far as the clothing, I feel like they are really biased when they pick who's pieces get to be in the show, the board/judges tend to lean towards the upperclassmen, but I guess that's sort of obvious. lol
that's mainly for the fashion majors' careers and networking.
there was another club that had a fashion show this year and I think it was the african american club/association. the show had different well known local designers and student designers, it was pretty good.

Hey! I go to UCD too. (=(= Are you in the Textiles & Clothing/Design major?
I know we have more than one fashion show each year.. I can only remember, in the recent past, the Trashion Show and the Silhouette's Fashion Show (during Picnic Day).xD Our programs are quite small and still growing, but i hope we get some big designers to come out soon. It's a pity though, we have some amazing design professors!
And i was also at APCN when Fannny Pak came, but i can't remember whose fashion line was presented. I can only remember that one of the logos was a zebra.xD

yah sure
last year's theme was enchanted garden ( I thought it was lame lmao, but it wasn't my decision, I'm not a fashion major haha)
here's the Link
just click on 2009 gallery or something down there. and you'll see the picture from the most recent show.
one of my best friends had a piece that was selected to be in the show but then they decided last minute not to use it because it wasn't "enchanted garden" enough (wtf), and her dress was probs way better than some of the stuff you see in the gallery, which is why I got pissed off at the department for being stupid. lol

^^ thanks for the link : ).
I would also like to see designs or get to know the new and inspired designers too! so anyone who knows talented people or work from your school, please share ahha
I am not sure about schools outside of California, but I've seen some awesome designs from berkeley and davis. Very creative and inspiring.. especially for these new and young people trying to start their own thing
There's Inogu Fabrics, streetwear- from CAL (i think)
Deserts of Edens, streetwear
Organic Rootz
The Imaginary Zebra
Seems like most schools only focus on high fashion.. but then again.. the runway is usually dominated by them. For our fashion shows, it seems to be a mixture between high fashion + street wear. So far... we haven't really invited any "big" names yet.. we seem to focus more on our student's design. Inviting popular designers= quite expensive haha
