so for the people in canada...is the NHL as popular as it ever was..or even more popular?


i'm not an avid fan, but just curious as to how it is doing in canada, because here in PA, no one talks about the Flyers. it goes, football, nba, mlb, college football, college basketball, nascar and then maybe hockey or golf. just wanted to know how popular it is up in canada these days. i know the hard core fans of a sport will always be there, but what about the fringe fans?

^ seems to me like there're more capacity sell-out crowds than ever before especially in Vancouver..GM Place has been full to the brim every home game this season..so I'd say it'd going pretty well

i think in canada its really popular. like if you watch any sportsnews hockey is always the number one story. i think we've all been starved too long. calgary will sell out every home game too this season.

but then canada i think.. popularity has never been the issue. the economic system was the issue.

hopefully once baseball is over, and the football season is over. hockey can get same airtime in the usa. usually after the superbowl anyways, they start showing hockey on network tv.

chicago and washington are both fairly large cities and come in last with % of capacity so far this season.

^ haha..that's because for the last few seasons, Chicago and Washington have, well, sucked. They usually end up somewhere on the bottom so regarldess of how big the cities are, if the team isn't performing, it's kinda hard for them to get the fan base. In fact, the last time the NHL had a full season, the Caps were last in the league. I'm sorry to Blackhawks and Capitals fans if you don't agree.

The Caps are putting up better numbers this year though especially with the signing of Ovechkin who currently has an 8-game point streak.

The Hawks, however, still aren't doing so well. So much for the Bulin Wall o_o

haha..I want to go to GM Place and watch a game, dang it!!! I haven't been there in, over 3 years!! Last game I went to was Canucks vs Flyers back when Messier was still with us. I remember it clearly. It was overtime, Messier had a breakaway and he got hawled down, but no call. It came the other way, Lindros had a breakaway, and he scored. Stupid butt <__<
