i personally think thats a more serious hit than bertuzzi's on moore but since it doesnt seem like hollweg really got hurt im guessing he'll probably get a lighter sentence

I also wonder how much damage the dogpile did to Moore.
It didn't seem like Bertuzzi had intent to injure. SIMON had intent to injure..

Oh I'm pretty sure Bertuzzi intended to injure all right...
But anyway, I'll agree that Bertuzzi's punch didn't do all the damage to Moore. It did a LOT if not, most damage. But when there's like 2-4 more guys on Moore, it wasn't only from Bertuzzi.
What's this I hear about Chris Simon saying that he should only be suspended 5-6 games? I was hearing this discussed on the radio last night, and as far as I know, for someone who's been in the league as long as Simon, he should definitely know better.
Take your damn season-suspension.

bertuzzi was much worst. bertuzzi chased him down and sucker punched him from behind. thats intent!
but both incidents were bad. and simon should get a lot. but bertuzzi never got enough... but the nhl has such a low standard in suspensions.
edit: he got 15 games
edit2: nhl denied that report... who knows whats going on....

Islanders' Chris Simon Has Disciplinary Hearing for High-Stick
By Dan Bollerman
March 10 (Bloomberg) -- New York Islanders forward Chris Simon had a disciplinary hearing with the National Hockey League for hitting Ryan Hollweg of the New York Rangers in the face with his stick two nights ago.
Simon and representatives from the Islanders and NHL Players Association met with NHL Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell in New York this morning, the league said in a statement.
Madison Square Garden Network, without saying how it got its information, reported Simon would be suspended for the final 15 games of the regular season and seven playoff games. Campbell said that no decision about a penalty had been made.
``Any report to the contrary is false,'' Campbell said in the league's statement.
Simon, in his 14th NHL season, apologized to Hollweg, his teammates, fans and the league for the hit, in a statement released by the Islanders during the first period of tonight's home game against Washington. He said he'd hoped to ``reach out'' to Hollweg ``in the near future.''
``I was disgusted. There is absolutely no place in hockey for what I did,'' said Simon, who added that he watched the replay of the hit the next morning.
Simon, 35, struck Hollweg with a two-handed swing of his stick in retaliation for a check during the third period of the Rangers' 2-1 win at Nassau Coliseum. Hollweg lay motionless on the ice for a short time and needed stitches to close a cut on his chin.
Simon was ejected from the game with an intent-to-injure penalty and the NHL suspended him indefinitely yesterday.
Similar Incident
The incident was similar to one involving former Boston Bruins defenseman Marty McSorley, who struck Vancouver's Donald Brashear in the head with his stick in 2000. McSorley was suspended for 23 games -- the remainder of that season -- and convicted in Canada of assault. He didn't serve jail time.
Simon said he was ``completely out of it'' after being checked face-first into the boards by a Rangers' player, but he then turned around and hit Hollweg. He said team physicians told him yesterday that he'd sustained a concussion when he was originally checked.
``This in not justification for the danger I put Ryan Hollweg in and the damage I have caused the game,'' Simon said, adding that doctors won't let him travel because of the concussion.
Simon has been suspended four previous times for illegal hits and once for directing a racial slur at Mike Grier in 1997. He's third on the Islanders this season with 75 penalty minutes, and has 10 goals and 17 assists.
Hollweg returned to the ice today, playing almost nine minutes of the Rangers' 3-2 overtime loss in Pittsburgh.

How I see it is..
Bertuzzi - punch - disorientation, loss of balance, perhaps the concussion
Disoriented Moore - falling, aggravated the concussion
Dog pile with 3-4 200+ pound men on top - cracked vertebrae disc
I think Bertuzzi should've probably lost more money in accordance with the suspension because half a million seems a little too little for the paycheck he was getting, but I don't feel like he did all the damage, but everyone's making him seem like he did. Everyone's saying Bertuzzi's malicious punch on Moore left him with a severe concussion and a cracked vertebrae disc, but no one's saying the event surrounding Bertuzzi's malicious punch on Moore left him with a severe concussion and a cracked vertebrae disc..

but simon basically got suspended for the rest of the season and the playoffs, and maybe more.
