Yay...they won again...it was a weird game though...too much steals on centre ice...maybe bad puck handling by both teams? The puck just went back and forth between Flames and Canucks on centre ice for awhile - Canuck to Flame to Canuck and then back to Flame...lol

Keep Sundin, trade off underachievers: Raycroft, Tucker, Wellwood, Steen, Blake for like Rick Nash or someone.

Ed Willes, The Province
Any idiot can tell you what's happened in the first half of the NHL season. But only this idiot can tell you what's about to happen in the league's second half.
Dec. 31: Following three months of complete inactivity on the trade front, some surprising moves are made as the Christmas roster freeze is lifted. Dallas picks up Petteri Nokelainen from Boston, which immediately causes some confusion at the NHL office.
"I thought Dallas already had all the Finns," says NHL vice-president Bill Daly. And Calgary raises eyebrows when it puts in claims on former NHLers Brian Noonan, Stephane Matteau and Harry York.
Head coach Mike Keenan denies any involvement in the acquisitions but further suspicions are raised when the Flames deal Jarome Iginla and Dion Phaneuf to the Rangers for the rights to Mark Messier.
Jan. 26: The puck-relay portion of the All-Star Game's Super Skills Competition is cancelled when Wade Belak, who was voted in by Maple Leafs' fans on the strength of his first-half goal, crashes into a pylon and severs his Achilles tendon. To replace the puck relay, the league immediately plans a new event for All-Star Week in which contestants try to stickhandle through five players lined up in the neutral zone. The winner gets a free video session with Jacques Lemaire.
Feb. 12: In what's believed to be a first, all 30 NHL teams are tied in the standings with .500 records. "This is proof the new NHL is working," commissioner Gary Bettman says. This astonishing turn of events, however, leads to problems in Toronto where half the Leafs' fans take to the streets demanding GM John Ferguson Jr., be fired for the team's last-place showing while the other half take to the streets to celebrate the Leafs' first-place showing
Feb. 21: Chris Simon's 30-game suspension ends. Unfortunately the Islanders' winger lands in hot water when, while serving a minor for obstruction interference, he barricades himself in the penalty box and takes three off-ice officials as hostages. Simon threatens to start throwing bodies over the boards before a SWAT team lowers itself into the box and restores order. NHL vice-president Colin Campbell suspends Simon for the rest of the season, saying there's no room in the game for obstruction.
Feb. 26: After two weeks of near-hysterical trade rumours, the deadline comes and goes with just one major deal. Anaheim's Brian Burke orchestrates a three-team trade in which he moves Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy. Buffalo then sends Getzlaf and Perry to Tampa Bay for Brad Richards and Martin St. Louis before Burke deals Vanek and Roy to Tampa for Getzlaf and Perry and the Lightning ship Vanek and Roy back to Buffalo for Richards and St. Louis.
True, all six players end up on their original teams but TSN fills four hours of programming on the deal.
"I was bored," Burke explains.
"This is proof the new NHL is working," says Bettman.
March 15: Speaking of bored, the Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks set a record for the longest regular-season game in NHL history when, with two minutes left in overtime, the timekeeper, both referees and 16,987 fans at American Airlines Center all fall asleep during a 0-0 tie. Oblivious to their surroundings, the players carry on for 15 extra minutes before Alex Burrows finally ends the affair with his team-leading 16th goal of the season. The Canucks' celebration, however, awakens all concerned and a shootout is immediately held which ends when the newly acquired Nokelainen, the Stars' 12th shooter, beats Roberto Luongo.
Afterwards, Stars head coach Dave Tippett admits he'd selected Antti Miettinen to take the shot but, "I can't tell them apart, either."
April 5: On the final day of the regular season the Canucks break a five-way tie for first in the Northwest Division when the red-hot Burrows scores his 32nd goal of the season, giving the Canucks a 1-0 win over Calgary. Burrows also locks up the Rocket Richard Trophy, largely because Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk has been held goal-less since Dec. 27.
May 22: The Canucks are eliminated in Game 7 of the Western Conference final when Noonan scores the game-winner for the Flames in the third overtime period. Luongo had stopped 123 of 124 shots before Noonan's goal and twice had to leave the game to take intravenous fluids. The second time the Canucks' goalie brought out the IV bag, hooked it to the back of the net and bravely kept on playing. He was trying to reinsert the catheter when Noonan scored.
June 10: The surprising Washington Capitals beat the Flames in Game 7 to win the first Stanley Cup in franchise history. The Caps made the playoffs on the last day of the regular season when they broke a 14-way tie for first in the Eastern Conference with a win over Pittsburgh. The final draws huge ratings in Canada but a .0000001 share in the States when it runs up against a mixed bass fishing derby and an ESPN Classic replay of 1977's Battle of the Network Stars featuring Robert Conrad and Joyce DeWitt. Still, the .0000001 share is a season-high for the NHL.
"This is proof the new NHL is working," says Bettman.

Just deal off Raycroft, Steen, Kubina, Tucker or Blake.
Unloading is pulling a Washington Capitals move... and well... look where they ended up.
Why do they still have Kolzig again?
