I'm really surprised the Canadiens gave Huet away like that. The Caps have a great chance to win the Southeast now. Apparently the sticking point in their negotiations with Atlanta was their unwillingness to give up Halak. But if Price is the real deal, then isn't Halak just going to sit on the bench anyway? Why give the starting job to a 20-year-old when you have a legitimate chance to contend? If this were a fantasy league, I would protest the trade.

I'm also a little surprised that Pittsburgh gave up Angelo Esposito for Hossa. No more than a year ago, he was projected to be the top pick in the draft. Not only did he fall all the way to 20th, but now they've sent him with two other young players AND a first-round pick for a player that may very well be no more than a rental. I guess they really think Conklin is good enough to give them a shot at the Cup.

I'm sorta glad the Rangers got rid of Montoya while he still has some value, and glad they got anything at all for Hossa. Montoya was inconsistent, injured all the time and had no future with the team. Sjostrom can play on the third or fourth line and actually score a little bit. Benoit Allaire thinks LeNeveu (who he worked with in Phoenix) still has serious potential, so it's worth a shot. And getting Backman for a fourth-rounder is a solid deal, considering how little depth they have on defense.

As for Carey Price, they're putting alotta pressure on him and if he ends up flopping, I will laugh my ass off because Canadiens fans (not Canadians) think every freaking goalie they have is gonna be the next Patrick Roy which is never freaking true..

And the fact that Hossa already got injured in his first game is kinda funny since the Pens gave up so much just to get him; I doubt hill re-sign with them anyways since they're gonna be lookin' to set in Malkin.. Conklin is pretty decent now and I wouldn't be surprised if he can give a big push to the cup, but my advice th Pittsburgh is to STOP PLAYING FLEURY!!! He's cracks under pressure like that.. Stick to the hot goalie and hopefully they'll do well.. (I don't see them winning the cup though)

Now to my team.. I was kinda disappointed with what the Rangers did, I felt that they only dealt with the teams they did because of the relationship they had with Maloney (Phoenix) and John Davidson (St. Louis), I didn't really mind the Hossa/Sjostrom deal, as Hossa was scratched for alot of this season and didn't really have that small offensive streak like he had last year.. But I felt that we could have done alot better for Montoya as he was highly prospected a few years back.. As for Backman, we didn't really give up anything, but I wish that we could've acquired a better defenseman =x

Oh well...!

I'd be pretty surprised if Conklin kept playing at such a high level. It's tough to believe that, at almost 32, he's suddenly better than he's been for his whole career. Fleury's biggest problem has always been rebound control, and it looks like he's never going to get his act together. The Pens will probably give him at least one more year, though.

I'm pretty happy with what the Rangers did. I'm glad they didn't give up any of the important young players or prospects, and Sjostrom is a clear upgrade over Hossa, who was a complete flop. Montoya's stock had badly plummeted over the last couple years, both because of his inconsistent play (he even lost the starting job in Hartford for a while this season) and his constant injuries (he has a groin injury right now). There was apparently very little interest in him. Since Phoenix just signed Bryzgalov to a three-year deal, I doubt Montoya is going to be a starting goalie any time soon. LeNeveu basically replaces him in the organization, and again, Ben Allaire has worked with him before and thinks highly of him. Backman was a good pickup even if he took like 10 minutes worth of penalties in his first game, because they have no depth on defense and Mara is injured. The price for someone like Campbell would have been too high.

64 games and finally, the Canucks finally got a full 6 man healthy d back. Salo, Ohlund, Mitchell, Miller, Edler, Bieksa.

I was pretty sure we wouldn't go for someone like Campbell.. If the Rangers did, it'd be because he'd want to play with Drury but since they're all young I doubt they have that kind of relationship yet.. I actually wanted them to push for someone like John-Michael Liles with all the rumors that said he was gonna be dealt, but I guess we'll have to see what kinda deals we do over the offseason.. I'd say with Girardi, Tyutin, and Staal, all we have to do is resign Roszival, and look towards getting two more solid defenseman if Backman doesn't end up doing well

With just 3 more weeks left in the regular season. Crunch time has come with the fight for the final playoff spot and getting top in the Division. The Northwest is stacked up. Canucks, Flames, Colorado all have 84 points while the Wilds have 86. The Canucks play the Oilers on thursday and then the Wilds on Friday so the friday game will be huge.

Leafs are a pretty bad team. After Sundin, they lack other back up. O'neil use to be a prolific scorer but now is not doing so well. Tucker isn't scoring as much as last year. Toskala and Raycroft just isn't doing it.

This is also Toskala's first full season as a starter isn't it? But yeah they need some help.. Whatever happened to Manny Fernandez? Lol he was supposed to be Boston's number one this year too.. Guess they can do without him eh?

Toskala has had a few seasons under his belt. He did play like 40 something games last year. Fernandez got into so many injuries after leaving Minny.

Err... Jeff O'Neil's doesn't play for the Leafs now... he was never re-signed.

I'm pleased with Toskala. At least he split the time with Nabokov and didn't have to be overplayed with the Sharks. Raycroft was a waste, thanks John Ferguson Jr.

Thanks for signing so many no-trade clause contracts as well.

Only bright spots for the Leafs have been Sundin, Antropov and those random youngsters that have shown some promise. Tucker's role has diminished after not being on the top line anymore, he's like a yo-yo. Good year, bad year, always alternates. Heck even Kubina's done more than other players have this year. All our former prospects gone.. everytime I see Brad Boyes' name, I hang my head in shame. I'm embarrassed for Mark Bell to be on the Leafs. The only thing I've found pleasing with the Leafs this season is Sundin's commitment to the team.

rofl @ Patrick Roy and his son.
NEWSFLASH: I HAVEN'T BEEN A MODERATOR FOR LIKE 2-3 YEARS, SO STOP MESSAGING ME ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS.

Roy and his son are so full of it. That was one hell of a beat down though but that was because the other goalie didnt even fight back.

I'd be so happy to see the Sens drop out of the playoffs, that goes to the Flyers as well.

Well, the Canucks just made it really hard for themselves. They need 2 wins and 1 Nashville lost to get into the playoffs and that is very unlikely since Nashville is playing St. Louis and Chicago.

that really hurt. st louis blew a 3-0 lead and we blow a 2-0 lead. a few hours ago we were all probably imagining the opposite situation than where we are now.

i just hope april 5th would be a good game. not for the playoffs but for trevor ='(

let's hope pittsburgh beat the flyers 2mr to clinch the division and give the caps more hope eh?
