Ugh... I hope Philly gets stomped out of the playoffs. There's like half a dozen cheap dirty guys on that team.

I totally agree.
It pretty Obvious that they will end up palying the Pens.
and they will beat em!
its pretty sad that the Habs are out. sad.gif
i am cheering for the
Pens and the Sharks now.

Philly vs Pittsburgh, I think Pittsburgh has the upper hand in this series since they are so balanced. Timonen cannot stop 2 lines at once so Philly's D will be destroyed. I say Pittsburgh in 5 or 6. Philly beat Montreal due to size advantage but Pittsburgh themselves got some big guys themselves to go up against Philly. Like Staal, Malkins, Malone. If Pittsburgh can shut down Philly's top 2 lines aka, Briere, Prospal, Richards, Carter, Umberger. Than they will be fine. But their D is still young so there will be one tough task ahead of them.

Detroit vs Stars/Sharks, Who ever Detroit plays, it will be tough but Detroit can pull through with their unsung hero, Franzen. 11 goals in 10 games. Detroit is a puck possession so Stars will fall because Turco will not be able to handle the puck.

Paul Maurice has been fired. The Leafs are asking the Canucks to negotiate with Dave Nonis on the GM position since technically, Nonis is still under contract with the Canucks, he was just relieved of his duties. Next up, AV!

Ya, I heard bout this, about time they fired him.
But i dont understand you? why do you want AV to be fired?
He did a very good job coaching last year and with gilis (hopefully) bringing in a few good forwards AV can do it again in 08/09.

It is not about AV bring a good coach or not. He completely lost the team mid season. He gave top line minutes to the shut down line which really should go towards the 1st line. He mixed and match so much that even if there was chemistry, it will never be developed. Sure he was coach of the year but coach of the year honour also has to do with how well of a team he had under him and how much the team improved from the year before and clearly, you can say, Luongo brought him that trophy. Also his shootout selection is horrible. You will never know who will go unless your name was Linden or Edler.

You look at the coaches availiable now and Quenville and Burns will be a better coach than AV due to their style of play. AV plays a more grind the opponent out and defensive first while you see from the teams in the Conference Finals, all of them play an attack fast and hard with full offensive flare. Sure the Canucks did not have many offensive weapons this year but in the end, the new NHL is built for speed and offense and we need to play that kind of style.

You see how many times the Canucks fell behind in the season and never caught up or everytime we got a lead, 2-0, 3-0. The other team will always claw back due to our defensive style.

i can't believe the Pens lost yesterday.
watch Detroit win tomorrow and beat the Pen in the finals
and I agree with Chioster's pervious comment, the Canucks did fall back many times this year and hopefully AV can do a better job next year. Also, hopefully Gilis will bring us skilled forward players =)

It's Red Wings vs Penguins just like I predicted before the playoffs. My prediction for the Finals then? Red Wings over Penguins in 5

This will go to game 7. These are just too good of teams to finish in 5 games.

Got tickets to all the Wings games... tried to do the same for the Pens but that stuff went out with the quickness (and I wasn't too excited about the long drives down to PA either).

You are probably right but I still think Red Wings will get their hands on the Cup.

oohh...lucky.
i love feeling the excitment of the playoffs at the rinks.
i guess, ill just have to feel it on tv( like iv been doing for the past 16 years).^^'''
---

I also think the red wings will win it all, i dont think it will go up to game 7.
They have really good d-men. the only thing the pens have is shooter and Fleury has just been lucky.
so , my prdiction is Red Wings in 6.

You underrate the Pen's D too much. Sure they are young but at the same time, you are very good and have great chemistry. This is why pittsburgh has let in the fewest GAA in the playoffs. Even less than Detroit. Sure it might be from playing not so good teams but I believe that Ottawa, Rangers, and Philly were quite some offensive juggernauts. Fleury was a #1 pick back in the day so it was about time he developed. I remember when his starting job has been taking from each and every single year till this playoffs. In the end, this series will be great and it will be hard for ME to tell who will win it all. But in my mind, each time will find a way to bounce it all the way to game 7.

I don't know what's going on they have one of the most successful teams and they can't seem to completely sell out. Other sports going on in the city I guess. I saw empty seats when watching one of the first round playoff games and I'm like man if this was in Toronto or Vancouver you would have people standing outside the arena even without tickets.

haha this is my first time posting on the NHL portion on Soompi. I'm usually in the car or college section on this forum.

I'm a SJ Sharks fan... well mostly cuz my anatomy teacher turned me into one.

I have a feeling the Detroit Red Wings are going to win the cup this year, but I'm rooting on the Penguins. Come on man... Crosby ftw!!!!
Watching the game, I really thing the Red Wings are really cheap when comes to checking. They are WAY to aggressive. Ones that caught my eye I think were Kronwall and Holmstrom . Also, I think Fleury shouldn't be missing some easy shots that are coming in. I think it's just been a bad week for him.
