As for D on the all star ballot, I truly think Dan Boyle deserves to be on one of those spots. While being a Sharks fan does cloud my judgment, he plays the puck really well. He's tied at 2nd for having 16 points as a defensemen.

But yea, those NHL votes are bloated. You know someone's been cheating the system. My friend alone, can get 600 votes an hour if he wanted to, but he's not a hockey fan, nor wants to spend the time voting.

In my opinion, the vote system should be based on your IP, one vote per IP. Easy as that. It won't be a vote for Rory thing going on.

Its easy to change your IP. There is no way you can really make a fair voting system as people will find a way to cheat. The best the NHL can do is stop this fan voting crap and just stick to the old way of picking the best of the best.

...

How about your personal MAC address, or your static IP.

How do you think Rapidshare or megaupload knows that you have downloaded off their servers? Even using a proxy, you can't get around it.

I dont know about that but a few years ago, during the NHL voting, the NHL site just stored your info in a cookie and when you delete that cookie, you can vote again. the NHL is pretty behind in technology.

QUOTE (Chioster @ Nov 17 2008, 10:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well as I said, Wellwood is too small to even nudge a guy. Did you see Raymond who is bigger than Wellwood try to hit a D today full speed? The D just stood there and Raymond just bounced off. Ya you need to play a little physical but in Wellwoods case, ever since losing all that weight, he is featherlight soft. But ya, a nudge anything to put the D out of focus is good but hockey sense is another good. This is where Wellwood excel and Demitra too. They go to places expecting to pick off a play. It helps wellwood now that there is Bernier helping with the forecheck and he just stands near where the player will pass to.

I speak as if wellwood is the size of a baby. I've played against guys twice my size and I've been able to fight the puck off them before. I'm a skinny guy and can definitely be pushed around easily but all I had to do was lean in against him when fighting for the puck and have an active stick. No matter how big someone is, all it takes its wacking away at the puck/stick to prevent him from gaining control.

And again I'm not talk talking bout hitting players. Yes, Raymond may bounce off guys if he tries to hit them but he gets in there and fights for the puck to keep it alive and in some cases he does.

The size of the player doesn't have to do with I'm talking about...ofcourse it helps but it's not necessary. It's all about working and fighting for the puck.

You think Rick Rypien is a big player? Hell no, he's probably the same size as wellwood but he's gritty as ****.

Imagine if a drunk guy leaned against you on the skytrain...that's the kind of physical contact I'm talking about. Not Scott Steven's bodychecks from hell.

And I know what you mean when you talk about "picking off the pass", 'cause I've seen him do that but it doesn't usually work, especially not in the NHL. You have to playing against noobs who lack the patience and feel that there's always the need to get the puck out of the zone as soon as it touches their stick. I've seen Wellwood hang back hoping for these passes but trust me, these plays don't happen often at all. If you think this is the case and that Wellwood is being smart, then I don't know why Bertuzzi was flamed as a floater, 'cause by those logics he should be the smartest player out there.

There's a reason why our 3rd line is able to keep control of the puck so well, even when the play looks like it's dead, they try to fight for it anyway and usually end up keeping it alive and in the zone.

I know pure skill players don't usually play this kind of game (which frustrates me), but imagine what kind of player Wellwood could be if he did.

I agree with everything you've said but Yes, the thing is, imagine if Wellwood was that kind of player. The thing is, he is not and probably never will be. We are talking about the same guy who broke his legs playing indoor soccer. Same reason why Bertuzzi is a floater and even under Iron Mike, still hasn't changed their habits.

fair. but I really doubt the chances of injury are high by playing a little more physical. the only time you notice him is when he plays the nice play every now and then. other than that, his shifts are completely uselss.

bertuzzi was very very frustrating to watch. I think I was his biggest hater in 05-06. I hated playing hockey with lazy floaters

Vacouver v. Rangers 5-3 Final

SALO'S SHOT SHOULD HAVE COUNTED AS A GOAL!!! IT WAS CLEARLY OVER THE LINE!! THE SCORE SHOULD BE 6-3!! NOT 5-3!! Now that's off my chest...
Luongo has made some really good saves. Did you see that cross-save he did in the 2nd? Lovely. And the tempo is just really good. Players' speed is great and phyicality is at a good point. Canucks and their power killing! It's getting a whole lot better and look at the shorthand goals made!
My friend and I are going nuts on how Nazzy is wearing a Rangers jersey. And then he was all over a couple of the Nucks. We were hoping for some interesting things to happen between Nazzy and his ex-teammates.
Glad to see Wellwood is getting a bit more physical this game. Glad to see the players that aren't majorly physical get some physicality going on. And Jannik offered his body up for mutilation to block a shot. But what is up with the NYR continuing play while we're on commercials? They get a goal during these times and my face just goes 'Wut da foo?'

^I agree with you on Wellwood, he must have read my posts on this forum 'cause he was playing with a little more urgency to his game =P

Hansen is playing like he's always been playing so nothing new there.

Anyone notice how harsh the fans were on their own players? Redden and Roszival was getting hell.

'Nucks 3 - 2 Wild

Oh, I was particularly worried when Vinny started CuSa today but because of his choice, he has his 100th win as Vancouver Canuck head coach! HURRAAAHHH! Anyway, we had a dreadful, miserable 2nd period. But I bet Bernier got the bricks off his chest with that slump-ending goal of his!

LOL, and to continue off the Rangers win... When the play-by-play guy said 'AND NASLUND CRUNCHES MITCHELL INTO THE BOARDS' I was like... 'the hell?'. And I loved how Hansen retched and coughed up that blood, it was beautiful. Sadly, this game was about facing Nazzy but every time we face the Rangers, I still have that little thought in the back of my head and it's just going 'I could probably beat the mini cooper out of Mark Messier right about now...'

And to add on the thing about Wellwood, I read his article today and they asked him what his most embarrassing moment was and he said it was when Andy Sutton hit him so hard and his helmet got turned backwards and he couldn't see. But Andy Sutton's 6'6, Welly's 5'10 and Sutton's got about a 65 lb. advantage on him.

__EDIT

and from the looks of it, if things go the way they're going, the whole eastern conference starting line-up's going to consist of only Habs!

__EDIT x2

And I would like to add that I was in utter bewilderment when the Sportsnet Connected panel compared Crosby to Ovechkin in a Crosby > Ovechkin fashion.
Honestly, suddenly sliding on your knees or back and scoring goals is not a great effort, I hate Crosby with all the strength in me.
It's almost like Tim Thomas, the least orthodox goalie in the league.

^I know, I was weirded out in the beginning too and then I got pulled in to call him Vinny.
I refuse to call him Sandman though, so yeah, gotta go with CuSa, cool.gif

But his name is SANDMAN! Anyways, the debate between Crosby and Ovechkin will go on forever. It is like the debate between Gretzky and Lemieux. Gretzky is probably the best player ever but Lemieux was a more prolific goal scorer. Who is better? Who knows. As for now though, Ovechkin is a better goal scorer while Crosby is the better passer. Its oranges and apples. Also, sliding on your knees...... I think crosby does more of that then Ovechkin but scoring on your back, Ovechkin is 1-0 so far. I do have my ovechkin sig in hand somewhere.

^Do you go on CDC by any chance? There's a guy there with a wicked Ovechkin signature with his goal against Columbus, biggrin.gif
I refuse to call him Sandman because he's SANFORD, not SANDFORD, =O (ignore me, grammar geek over here.)
I just think that Ovechkin brings a little more honour to the game because he's willing to get in there, and he makes it so exciting, Crosby just whines a lot.

Wow, I don't get to sleep in tomorrow, 'Nucks at Pittsburg at 11 AM, bright and early!

For me, it will be Sandman since he had it as his helmet for a couple of years. Even during his Stl years where he OWNED the canucks. Crosby actually gets in there too. Sure he whines a lot but he still mixes it up.

Nonetheless, I'd like a little bit of revenge since we lost to them last year!
I fail struggling at trying to register for an account on CDC, but people on there are either idiotic, bandwagonners or cocky 1000+ posters who tell everybody to stop posting.

^I love this Canucks Celebration. Like Shorthouse said, "a sign of a team coming together".

They were definitely playing to get Sanford a win which is great for him 'cause he needed that badly.

And ofcourse, I love the WOOOOOOOOo-ing. I hope it becomes a new trend

I hate CDC, the ppl there love to be a-holes to one another, especially if your post count is low. Total idiots. I asked an honest question on the off-topic thread once and some guy tried to make me look stupid but I argued back with him and shut him up good =P

I'd get a tiny bit too much joy out of signing up on a Leafs' board and causing some havoc.

I can't wait for the game tomorrow, I'm always happier on game days.
