I think it's sad to find that a lot of idol boys are still single despite their age.
Some of them have reached the age where they should've been married, but they don't even have a girlfriend / boyfriend sad.gif
it's really really sad to think that thousands of people love them but I bet they feel very lonely inside T_T

What are the downside of being an idol, according to your opinion?

You can't date who you want to date cause those thousands of fan girls will scream and whine and riot.
Thousands of people love them, but that's only cause they're single. If they were taken, thousands of people would want his partner gone.

I'm more worried about his career if he got himself an ugly girlfriend lol
Any idol's rating will probably plummet if their fans disapprove.

Though there are idols that go out and just get on with the relationship. Guess if it's great enough, they won't care cuz their love is strong enough. If the fans truly love them, let them marry for gawds sake. Though not every one thinks like that.

-> the pressure to be 'perfect' looking all the time
-> criticism from people
-> anti fans and their glue
-> can't maintain a romantic relationship due to many fans disapproving and your mostly working all the time. I think this applies more to idols in Korea.
->people hacking on your cyworld

If I was ever in the entertainment industry, I would work behind the screen.

If youre an idol, someone out there will be a hater for you. Thats the #1 downside in my views cause it really brings down my self esteem (personally) when people dislike me. 2nd would be paparazzis. if you do something unusual it'll be broadcasted somehow to the public. As for the dating thing .. well a lot of fans go crazy when they DO end up dating someone.. I guess it depends on if youre a singer, actor, etc..

Not much time to date a loved one
Career is top priority
Random schedules
Very busy
Lots of travelling
Never get to stay in one place for long
Have to hide face/try to look different when travelling to not be recognized
Have to train and practise a lot to keep up with those around them
Even if don't like fans or majority of people- have to be tolerant, pretend to be nice (if person isn't) and pretend to like it and smile
Has to be confident in front of fans
Has to be charismatic and friendly
Crazy fans will chase you, steal your stuff if they can, stalk you, etc. etc.
If there's something bad about you leaked, whether it's true or not, it will affect your career
If people hate you even if they don't know you, they will voice it so you have to deal with love-fans and hate-anti-fans too.
Jealous people will insult you to others (but its okay because you don't know these anti-fans anyways)
If you do date- it might be leaked to the media somehow and the result will be bad.
You get practically no privacy or have to secure the bit you have (the media follows you, your fans stalk you, etc. etc)
You might get stressed out if you are doing poorly on a song or a dance move
You might worry that your contract will end (if it's soon) and wonder if you'll be contracted again or given the 'bye-bye'
Relatives might make up stuff about you because of money
When you die, relatives might make biographies about you for money
After you die, people you knew or might not have known will pretend to know you ('cause you can't say otherwise since you'd be dead) and maybe will write articles on you or biographies for money too!

Lots of stuff. And some of the stuff I wrote might not be true!

Personally, I value my privacy and unhectic schedule a lot. :] But if I was ever offered to be an idol, I'd have to be crazy to turn it down. LOL. Others probably don't feeel the same way though~ of course ;o
I am so bored and I wanted a signature here even if it's a pointless one. :]
Did you read this? Yay! I succeeded in making you waste seconds of your time.
Yes. I typed more words into my signature because I wanted it to look longer.

They can't enjoy the things 'normal' people enjoy.
Have a irregular lifestyle.
No freedom.
Harder to get a girlfriend/boyfriend.
Risk to health.
Be criticized heavily.
Fame can be easily lost.
Have to act 'good'.

And well looking at DBSK, I guess companies not paying them enough may be the case.

Definitely not being able to have much of a private life.
That and having fans/antis who go too far in their love/hate for you.
