I was wondering if anyone here has ever caught a firefly before and how did you achieve that? I live in Orange County and normally I don't see them when I look out of my window at night so I was wondering where I could find them? Swamp? Park? Wooded area? Does anybody here know?

umm I think they like to be in wooded areas...my backyard is full of trees so we have lots of them. they're really easy to catch.
I don't like them cuz they sometimes get into my room at night haha >_>

My neighborhood is really old? I always see them in the summer.
I usually have a container to put them in. I walk towards the blinking light, and catch it with my hand? Then I put it in the container. They all die in the morning.

fireflies are gross
i mean, sure they look pretty when its dark and they're all glowing and stuff but when its daylight or when u catch one and look at it... it just looks like any other nasty little bug with billions of little legs and creepy crawlies eugh
i dont find them romantic at all (if my bf gave me a jar of them id prolly cry lol) but then again, im a bug freak
i dont really see them where i live, but in the suburban nj area they come out everywhere in the summers near dusk, no need for the swamps

Hmm, I don't know. I've always seen fireflies just flying anywhere & eveywhere.
But I do think they like wooded, possibly moist areas. Like a small creek or something.
Fireflies are beautiful.

I usually see them in my backyard and my yard has a few trees. I would say you could find them near a forest and they usually come out only during the evening when sun sets and it's almost dark out but not quite.

Does anybody here live in Orange County and have seen fireflies in their backyard or in a park? I want to go catch them w/ my friends. I've never seen them in my life.
