Arashi's Aiba stars in television drama

Arashi member Masaki Aiba (26) is set to take on his first lead role in a drama series this fall. He will star in TV Asahi's "My Girl," his first series since "Yankee Bokou ni Kaeru" in 2003.

Aiba, who is more known for appearing in variety shows than in dramas, said that he wants to show his fans a "completely different Masaki Aiba" from his usual self.

"My Girl" is based on a manga by Mizu Sahara (an alternate pen name of mangaka Sumomo Yumeka), currently being serialized in Shinchosha's Weekly Comic Bunch. The comic is described as an "ultimate love story" about a young man named Masamune Kazama (Aiba). During high school, he had a girlfriend four years older than him, but she suddenly left one day. Six years later, he receives news that she has passed away. In addition, she secretly gave birth to Masamune's child, whom he finally meets and decides to raise.

TV Asahi will broadcast "My Girl" in its Friday 11:15pm time slot, starting in October.

I can't wait! Based on his past (extremely hilarious) interactions with children, I wonder how this drama is going to turn out? An Aiba series yay! I wonder if Arashi will be singing the theme song?

So basically, when I fall out of the fandom, my favorite ARASHI member finally gets to star in his own drama. Just my luck.

But, I will still watch because this drama looks sooooo cuuuteee and because jdramas are my ultimate guilty pleasures. 8D

Aiba, geez, you look so adorable; it makes me want to fall back into the ARASHI fandom. Sorta. XD I've seen Ishii Momoka elsewhere... hmm, either way she's just spews cute. ajsdjfa;sdkf.

I couldn't help myself so I watched the first episode despite my pile of work hehe. Aiba is so freaking lovable in this drama. I think he played his character very; I almost cried with him towards the end, but that's not saying too much since I cry very easily when I see someone else crying lol. Ishii Momoka is so precious! I love her scenes together with Aiba~ Ahh, love this drama so far.

Muroi Shigeru plays Aiba's mom. o: Haha, I still only see her as Kiri-chan's (14 sai no haha) mom. She made such a lasting impression.

I just watched the first episode, it's soooooo touching!!
The little girl is such an awesome actress, I literally squealed everytime she talked cause it was too darn adorable!

i just finished ep 01 and im moving to ep 02. I must say it is a touching drama. Masamune (Aiba Masaki) seems like a gentle person and his daughter Koharu is the sweetest thing ever! She's quite cute and I think she and her young dad make a great team. I felt sorry that the mom had to die early, she was so pretty!

I just finished watching Episode 1 and the telephone scene almost made me cry. Aiba Masaki's first starring role and it suits him! The little girl is so cute!
