first time here writing in this car section XD
anyway..

I was going to go to my campus around 30 mins ago. but i found out that someone broke the window of my car
nothing is missing.. (duh! i dont have something important in the car).. it was all mess.
What should I do next?

I wonder if my insurance will cover it.. i'm so stressed out right now. never been in this kind of situation before

call your insurance see if they will cover it.


If not, look up in your yellow pages for an auto glass company and make an appointment. Shouldn't be too expensive. Side windows are much cheaper than the windshield or back side glass. Plus u can also choose whether to go to the shop or have them come to your home to fix it.

personally, i wouldn't go through insurance though. if you make a claim that someone broke your window, odds are your insurance monthly payment might go up a bit. they'll see you as a liability & think that you're more likely to have these kinds of incidents happen to you, thus costing the insurance company more money. it's dumb, but that's just how insurance companies work.

usually just paying an auto glass shop to do it will be cheaper & less of a hassle than going through your insurance, but that's just my opinion.

if insurance doesnt cover, I would try going to a junkyard first. find a friend who knows a decent amount about cars and bring them. usually it only costs 2 dollars or so to get in. and if you find the right window its gonna b way cheaper to fix than a shop doing it.

using insurance will only increase ur premium. they are in business to make money so u can be dang sure they will get more than the cost of the glass back. im sure u could prolly get that replaced for somehwere in the 200 range

Don't go through insurance. While you will save on the cost of the window, you will have to pay a higher premium

Call your insurance and find out what your deductible is. Also while you're at it, find out if your premium will increase if you file a claim. If I remember correctly, my insurance (AAA) doesn't.

ur insurance premiuim should not go up
but only reason to go through insurance is if ur deductible is less than what a new window will cost
so find out ur deductible and the price of replacing the window
