I go for legalizing marijuana! wooooot!
hopefully it gets passed next year and get us out of our debt.
I don't see why marijuana is illegal in the first place.
If it successful in California, then other states will start legalizing it.

It can bring money into California. It can lower crime rate. I honestly do see usage going up if it were to be legalized though. Legalize it imo. I don't smoke it nor do I like it. I just hope we don't have a bunch of morons smoking around me. I don't want to smell or feel the effects of it.

people would go using more damaging and dangerous drugs
cause its illegal and stuff
but who knows maybe not
if it gets us out of debt and lowers crime rate its a good thing =D

and this is coming from an avid marijuana smoker who smokes on a daily basis.
What happened to this WAR ON DRUGS! The US harassed us, put us in jail, made us out to be criminals who had to pay ridiculous fines, and now that the usa is broke they wanna start legalizing pot so they can tax us and make money off us. lol, OKAY govt! Such greedy ass holes.
Why would I want them to legalize it so I can pay taxes on that too, when i'm getting it fine right now, cheaper on the black market, without having to pay some bull sh it made up tax. Good riddance!

Too late, Oakland already has a tax on marijuana.
DEA hasn't really enforced their war against marijuana, but there is an incredible problem where there are many people being killed due to drugs by the drug cartels coming up into the US. People from Mexico will actually come into the US and create farms in forests and that kind of thing.
California needs the money and should definitely legalize AND tax personal marijuana. That's an extra $1B per year in taxes alone, plus in the amount of tourism from people coming to smoke.

here in chicago it's a ticket for like 600 dollars, even for just being caught with like a gram. maybe your state should work harder on border control. people in drug cartels are not going to just be like, okay damn, since weeds legal i guess we gotta stop being drug dealers. they'll probably just keep pushing at lower prices, and move to harder more profitable drugs. Seems like you got a whole different problem that legalizing weed wont solve. Whatever, good for the state, bad for smokers. sorry i'm not a statist.

Of course everyone smokes it now, that's the point. That's why it'll make a difference. It'll bring in more cash and reduce crime. Sounds like a difference to me.

It's not like the people who put pot smokers in jail are now the ones who want pot to be legalized. Chances are that the people who are pushing for it now are the ones who were fairly chill about it in the first place.

I wasn't talking about more cash & reduced crime.

marijuana is actually more comparable to alcohol, effects wise anyhow
in some parts in europe you can only smoke it in private homes or weed pubs. it's like public intoxication, you can't do it in public. if not then the cops can bust you

on the black market, an ounce probably costs you around... 50 bux? THAT'S CHEAP?! if legalized i can see the price of WEED, keyword here, dropping. i mean it's weed, not strawberries. easy as hell to grow? if legalized, i'm sure you can even grow your own without the federal government knocking at your front door or even breaking in the back.
i've supported marijuana legalization from the beginning, i mean common, it's less dangerous than alcohol. alcohol's legal ....... !*@#&@*^@!^????? the people against marijuana legalization are the lobbyists employed by alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical companies. all stand to lose major profits if marijuana is legalized
as for the federal government, i believe obama has already declared that medical marijuana users/distributers won't be hassled by the federal government. that type of stance is the first step in weed becoming legalized in america already. the next step would be for weed to become legal for recreational use within a state.

Was the Governator chill with marijuana at first? I've been reading that he's seriously considering this too...

The weed plant can also be used for other things too, like clothes and paper. Marijuana plants grow faster than trees (duh), which can help save some natural resources. Just a cool benefit in making the farming of marijuana legal.
I'm all for legalizing it!

Well I would prefer weed to be legalized and tobacco to be banned.
Even though weed does have a harmful effect to the body...
