To make a long story short, we have assigned seating in my lecture course. I sit next to this girl who is kind of ... weird to say the least. We never talked... one day she just randomly said to me, "Does my stomach groaning bother you?". I said "Oh, no it's fine." Then she said, "Oh ok, I didn't want you to think i was farting." I was like wtf... then she said, "My name is ____. What's yours?" That took me by surprise cuz that's kind of a weird way to ask for someone's name... Anyway, then about a week later, for our midterm, she was like "Hey, I'm having a study group with my friends. Do you want to study with us?" I told her I study better alone etc... then afterwards, it hit me that she might be interested in me or something. So what do you guys think? Although she seems kind of weird and random... hmm?

She just bad at starting a conversation, She trying to get to know you. So be friendly, because who know she might end up being one of the best friend you ever met through school. Also, she might be a very helping hand in your studying. That was very kind of her to even ask you to go study with her friend.

She definately sounds like shes trying to get to know you. Either you're alone most of the time and she's trying to invite you into her circle of friends or your assumption that she's interested in you is correct. That or it just happens that whenever she initiates a conversation with you, it happens to be an awkward moment, so she's trying to make it less awkward by making small talk with you.

i think its just an ice breaker when she said that thing about her stomache groaning. Sometimes i say weird things to people who sit next to me just so i can break the tension. I don't know if she likes you but if she invites you to the study group you know she is a lover and not a hater!
