I like how there are a lot of people, which means there will be many opinions to observe.
I'm also curious why you are curious about this.

because don't both asians & non asians have their ways of "how they found the site, what drew them to it and what interests them about it now."?
i understand how it might be quite rare for you to find a non-asian to like asian stuff.. but i think in general, "being attracted to soompi" is almost the same set of events.

I don't think it's rare for a non-Asian to like Asian stuff, but I thought it would be nice for them to provide an insight as to why they do.
I don't think it's the same at all really. It's quite natural to be interested and drawn to elements of your own culture, so it's far more interesting when people of other cultures do too.
Is there something wrong with my being curious? I personally thought it was an innocent question, but it seems that you all think otherwise

Hello~ ^^ Mm, I got attracted to Soompi when I had first learned about Kpop and Korean culture and all that. I was basically clueless about everything except that I liked the music. I was interested/fascinated/all that good stuff, so obviously I wanted to know more about everything and I came across this site and found just about everything I needed :] After that, I just ended up becoming "addicted." lol. It was so... convenient? Idk.

Most asians here are american or canadian or australian, so technically they're not into the asian culture either.
So it would be false to assume that because you're asian, you're more interested in the asian culture (or are able to better associate with it).

She's just asking non-Asians what is it about Soompi that made them want to join the forum. Afterall, it was a "K-pop for the masses" kind of thing at first (not saying that everyone who joins has to listen to Korean music). There's more of an Asian population on Soompi realistically. I'm curious as to what attracted them to Soompi too! =)

ah right right. my bad.
what i meant to say is -- the americans/canadians/etc who are asian/non-asian, might have followed similar events (ie, youtube, friend, whatever) on what attracted them to soompi, kpop, etc.
i wasn't referring to the asians living in asian country.

Thank you! To be honest I'm a little confused at the backlash, and if it's true that race-related topics were not allowed ... well, I guess it'll get removed.
I wasn't aware of this and I apologise in full.
But, I'm not going to apologise for my question because no one has explained why it's remotely offensive.
hybrid_marionette: I don't feel bad, as I haven't done anything to feel bad about. I'm confused, that's all.
Also if you want to ask people questions, you should probably try not to come off as patronising first

I'm attracted to the fashion and health sections. As I'm currently staying in Korea, soompi helps to understand the Korean culture
I'm European, by the way.
