I never thought I'd be one to ask for help with parking (general parking I'm very good. And don't ask "who isn't?"...some people really cannot park for jack squat)

Well for me, I never learned how to parallel park. But parallel parking I can take my time practicing on.

My problem with parking is...parking in between two cars (just like in a parallel park situation) only that there is enough space where I can drive into the space and park. My car always ends up crooked (the front is fitted in, but the back left rear is sticking out or crooked). It's really frustrating and embarrassing when in public. I mean I know I could always just try finding a regular space, but not being able to execute this type of parking frustrates me and I'm gonna have to nail this thing one day.

I have horrible spacing judgment and can never tell how much space I have between me and the car behind me. I use my side mirrors and look back and all, but..ugh. Iono I'm pretty bad.

^IDK if that really helps, but that's usually what my car is like after I attempt to park. The space between the front and behind cars isn't THAT tight. I usually end up having a lot of space behind me.

Anyone have any tips? Thanks

Just from that picture, it means you're turning the wheel too early which is why you are so far from the curb.

If you have a coupe:

If you have a sedan:

Line up your car next to the front car. Use green arrow to line up your car with the blue arrow of the front car so that they are side by side

Turn steering wheel all the way and then reverse into parking spot.

Use your passenger mirror to judge the distance of your back tire to gauge when to straighten out the steering wheel. Usually it's when the back of trunk (blue arrow in corolla pic) is past the curb by a little bit. But it's easiest to tell when to straighten wheel by the passenger mirror and looking at your tire.

If you don't get close to the curb by about 4-5 inches, go backwards/fowards while turning the steering wheel towards the curb till u get close enough.

Thanks for the help.

My issue is, I don't actually parallel park into the space. I drive right into the space , like:

[Car 1]------space--------[Car 2], and the space is bigger than my car, so I just drive into the space

Like say I'm going <--- direction

[Car 1]------space-------[Car 2]

assasasasasasasas^----[My Car]

I drive in from that direction and just pull into the space. My problem is how I'm never perfectly straight in the space

Sorry if this is confusing. I can't really explain it

Most of the time it's not a good idea to drive straight into that spot (unless you have enough space to do so), thus giving you a harder time to straighten your car when you park in between those cars. I would definitely suggest driving past the "front" car, and then reversing your way into that parking spot because you will be able to get your car closer to the curb. You'll have an easier time straightening your car that way also.

Yeah I'm only talking about when I have enough space. I mentioned it a few times already. Because it seems easier and I've never parallel parked, so....I try the drive in thing. But ugh I just suck badly at it. And I'm terrible @ judging the spacing around my car.

I guess I just need to practice more. -_x

And thanks for the video, junkers. If only I could park like that. Haha

Or perhaps you can get a friend to help judge how much space you have behind your car (or around your car in general) so you can get an idea of how long/big your car is!

Practice it around some residential neighborhood. Have your friend stand outside to guide you how far to reverse, and keep doing it until you get used to the length of your car, to the point where you don't need your friend to guide you anymore.

Yea it helps a lot. My dad did that too me but stayed in the car and just taught me what to do.

Its a very good idea overall.

My bf taught me to parallel park hahahaha!

Drive up and parallel right next to the car in front of you and back into the spot, it's a better angle that way and it's SO much easier to park like that.
