Has anyone used the LG Neon or had friends who own these? What do they think? I personally like it because it's really cute and I am quite partial towards slidey phones. I text but I'm not a supertexter but I plan to get a cellphone with keyboards in it.

Hahaha, this phone is really cute! My friend has it and so far she's been pretty happy with it. She's getting used to the keyboard, but for me it takes a while since I'm used to number pads. It's kind of hard to dial with the numbers on the qwerty keyboard but there's a touch screen option with to dial with. It's a cool phone, but just not for me. LOL

i had the non carrier version of this phone, which is the LG KS360 and i had it in pink. I really liked it because it was super cute, small and light. What i didn't like about it was the keys were too 'flat' and was hard to press. youd really have to press down on them. and there was no wifi. web surfing on it would be difficult as well. can't dl apps or anything and was quite laggy at times.

they should make more phones like this, similar exterior but with a majorly improved hardware and user interface.

Wait- why can't I use my mp3 songs as ringtones? How about as alarm? o.o Can't you use the Bluetooth imbedded in it?

um, yes you CAN use your own mp3 ringtones. you just need a MICRO SD CARD. the settings to change ringtone to your mp3 is pretty simple as well, you just gotta find the folder that your own ringtones are in. Usually it would be under external card, memory card, or sd card. You can also use your own ringtones for alarms smile.gif

And mine came with a USB cable. xxiaoMEI, where did you get yours? lol

I don't own this phone so I can't really review it.
But I'm just going to give my unneeded opinion on the phone from my point of view (in ottawa)

50% of everyone in Ottawa has this phone so it gets irritating (:
And those people in my class keeps sliding the qwerty board in/out and it gets flipping annoying
That is all (:

If not a lot of people owned this phone here, I would definitely go for it, it's cheap and it has a qwerty board (:

I have this phone and I think it's quite nice ^^. Qwerty keyboard, bright display, light, and nice design overall.

About that, there are certain phone companies that won't allow you to use mp3 ringtones, such as Fido/ Rogers.

However, At&t lg neons allow the use of mp3's. But you have to make sure the size and the bit rate and the file size isn't too big or the phone won't recognize it as a ringtone and won't let you set it. I'm not sure which bit rate would be appropriate, but i think anything lower than 128 would work smoothly.

*What bitrate does is it determines how much bits can be processed at once. For most cellphones, it can only handle 128 bitrate. lowering the bitrate of your ringtone can alter the quality though.

And you wouldn't need a usb cable, you can just link the bluetooth with you computer with your phone. Just set your neon's bluetooth and visibility on and you should be able to send your files to your phone.

The bluetooth feature is very useful because the lg neon has troubles downloading things off the internet, so it's hard to download games and apps. Like it would take...forever just to download one game.

I'm thinking of getting this phone when my contract expires.. mostly because Fido has better plans than Telus, haha. but this phone seems nice, from reviews I've heard that it's light, relatively small and the keyboard is great for texting. if you're not looking for a smartphone with all the features in it then this phone would be pretty good just as a basic phone.. for calls and texting.

are you with telus?
i cant use my mp3s as ringtones, lol.
it says its not a DCM file or whatever crap, and the "Set As" is crossed out if you even tried, its not clickable ;x and i do have a micro sd card, so i guess its because im with Fido.

and mine only came with headphones...yet again, Fido.
but from many reviews, some people didnt even get headphones with theirs, only their battery and charger, and most of them cant use their mp3s as ringtones either, so youre lucky ;x

^^

that sucks! i think your mobile carrier has disabled that. I have tmobile and the phone i had was UNLOCKED, so there were no restrictions at all.

you can use your mp3 songs as ringtones but you just have to cut it short to
around 14 seconds i think. i used to have this phone but i traded it in for the
Samsung Impression. I really didn't like the keyboard and it took a while to
get used to. the Neon is cute but it just wasn't for me overall.

I have the phone in pink. Loved it at first until it started turning off on its own. My boyfriend's (in blue) also does that too. It`s sooooo annoying. and the roaming symbol shows up at the top for no reason. I haven't even had it for a year yet.
I`ve heard other complaints about it turning off also, but maybe there`s a cure now? I gave up on my phone so I haven't been checking. :\
Other than that it`s a great phone. Easy to use and extremely cute.
And you CAN use mp3s

got this phone in green in august

i had the problem where it turns off by itself every now and then, but i learned that if you used up the battery life before recharging it again, it goes away

there's also a lot of delay when i make calls (when i dial a number, 10 seconds pass by before i can hear the ring or the other person going "hello? helloooo?"). the camera quality has incredible white balance but mediocre quality

there is also no 3g

overall, i wouldn't get this phone, even if it's cute the poor performance isn't worth it

word to the wise... DON'T GET THIS PHONE!!

Pros: Battery Life, Texting/ Email, Games, Photo Quality, Easy to use

Cons: FREEZING, software bugs, touch screen

I got this phone at the beginning of November...
it was fine for a while up until around the end of December-early January.
I went onto the AT&T wireless site to see if I was the only one having these issues, turns out I'm not.

When I would call people, I wouldn't be able to hear it ringing. In addition to that, I wouldn't hear when the person would answer the phone but they could hear me!! I would have to take the phone away from my ear and look to see the amount of time I've been on the phone to know that they've either picked up or I have their answering machine. And it usually would show that they've been on the phone for 8-30 seconds until I'm finally able to hear them.

Another issue I'm having now is that I can't make calls without my phone freezing. I can't call out, I have to text someone and ask them to call me. It started about a week ago. I tried to call my mom and I looked at the screen and saw that the "calling icon" was frozen. I tried to press end call & the hang up button and nothing happened. I still had a black screen that just said "calling So&So." Then after about 1.5 minutes of it being frozen, it finally said call ended at 00:36 secs. What the hell!!

I tried to call someone else soon after and it happened again. This time, it froze even longer. I ended up trying to power off the phone and it wouldn't go off!! Which resulted in me having to take the battery out. Ever since last week, I have not been able to call out, which is really annoying! I have important calls to make and I can't even do that. What if I have an emergency situation?! I can't do anything..

So yes, I would not advise anyone to buy this phone... hell, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy LG period. I've had 3 different LG's and I've had problems with all of them, and so have all of my friends and family. LG looks nice, but its more important functions FAIL!!

I wish I could just get the Pantech C300 again. It was a tiny cute little phone, and I never had one single problem with it. But AT&T discontinued it (π_π).

I hate to say it, as much as I don't want to, I may have to invest in an iphone (>_<).
