Have you ever tried to cook or bake something that ended up tasting strange or just really disgusting? lol

A few months ago, a few friends and I went to an event at school where we watched a woman demonstrate how to make a dessert called 'apple crisp.' After the event, we attempted to prepare it ourselves but failed miserably. It smelled delicious as it was baking, so I volunteered to taste it first when it was done - ended up spitting it out and then trashing the entire pan because it was just THAT bad. We realized that we used too much flour, orange juice, and apples but not enough sugar. rolleyes.gif

This is what happens when you estimate the portion sizes lol.

I always follow the recipes so my cookies/cakes always turn out well.

However when I experiment to make something new. oh boy :X One time I tried to make a cream based cake and my oven switched off halfway. It was like burn on the top and like not cooking through on the bottom. I fail >___<

yeah. my cousin and I were feeling so "ambitious" one day we decided to bake a choc cake.
After mixing egg and cocoa powder, I added in flour thinking it was icing sugar.
as you all know cocoa powder itself tastes bitter.
I thought I killed my taste buds when I tasted the bitter mixture hahaha
we continued adding in the "icing sugar" but the mixture never got sweeter.
lol until my cousin tasted the "icing sugar" and realized it was flour.
but the cake ended up burnt anyways sad.gif

oh I've messed up recipes so many times...recently I made chocolate chip cookies, like the EASIEST thing ever, and I left out a cup of flour and they turned out all burnt and flatter than pancakes sleep.gif

One time I ran out of soy sauce, so I used what I had on me at the time: Dr. Pepper.

It wasn't so bad. I'd probably try it again.

A while ago, I tried making egg drop soup.. My uncle made it seem really easy..
But what I ended up with was a bowl of over-boiled egg whites, lol..
It was just disgusting to look at xD!

i was going to use the one that are for cleaning stuff, T_T.
and i also brought the wrong flour, god, i don't think what i had brought was even flour!
i added SALT. it was my first time making waffles! i didn't know you don't put salt in it. sleep.gif
and besides, the instruction book said to add salt.

it was failure. but now i make pretty decent waffles xD.

when i was a little girl, me and my cousin snuck into the kitchen at midnight to bake cupcakes! the recipe said to warm the butter, so I suggested to stick it in the dishwasher for a bit because it was still warm from use. My cousin said that was dub, and put the whole stick of butter, including the metallic wrapper, into the microwave. Then if caught on fire, set off the fire alarm, and woke up my parents! hahaha

followed a receipe step by step, then i put it in the oven at the right temp and ran off to watch a movie on tv upstairs.

Fell asleep on the sofa and woke up to the sound of my mum screaming when she got home. The movie on TV was halfway through its repeat show... sleep.gif"

Cake turned black. BIG fail.

Ended up going to buy pre-made cake. lool xP

Ooohhh I have two xD

One is where my friend and I were making one of those giant cookies the size of your face at my house
My mom labels all the ingredients in Chinese, and I can't read it that well, so we ended up using 2 or 3 cups of salt instead of sugar D:
omg it was the WORST tasting thing everrrrrr = =

Another is where I tried making that cake-in-a-cup recipe that was on soompi a while ago
it ended up exploding in the microwave T_T

The first proper cake I made myself (from scratch without cake mix) turned out pretty bad. It was much too sweet and the cake was really rich and thick, no sponginess or air)
But with the cake mixes I've had better luck.

When I was in Vietnam, my cousins and I found a recipe for flan in a magazine so we decided to try it. I didn't really know how to read it since my parents never tought me how to read Vietnamese so I guess we added to many eggs. It ended up tasting like cheese and the caramel was all clear and watery so we drank the leftovers as "shots" since they tasted so bitter xD

My cousins and I were baking cookies.
I told her to put 2/3 cup of sugar.
She accidentally put MSG crystals instead of sugar.

WORST COOKIES EVER.

I don't let her make food anymore.

Somehow i aaaalways fail at making Pandan spongecake =.=
The top part always gets burnt, but the bottom is still not done..
So I tried to turn down the heat and let it in longer, but I still ended up with the same results..
Sooo I figured I had to mix it better..So I tried mixing it better.. but I would still end up with the same result..
Sooo now I just give up..I'll just buy it in the store x]

it's not that my cooking tasted strange or bad.... but it was kinda funny when I tried to make hamburguers.... I was cooking meat and it suddenly caught fire... I think I had put too much oil in the frying pan or something like that
what's worse, I was doing it for some friends... but hey, in the end it tasted pretty good! lol

Yeah. One time I tried to make some simple cookies....but not only did they come out burnt and stuck to the cookie sheet, but they were hard as rock.
I was so frustrated because I reeeeeaaally wanted some cookies. >__<"

I tried making crepes before; I followed a recipe but I didn't have all-purpose flour. I used whole wheat pastry flour instead and it was a disaster. The crepes turned out soggy and gross and tasted disgusting. Fail cooking is fail.

i was making cream puff dough and after watching it not puff up for 15 minutes, i realized i didn't put in the eggs
but i had enough ingredients to make a good batch afterwards, so meh

i also tried to make heart shaped hagow on valentines day
i ended up making scrambled eggs with shrimp embedded in thick tapioca/starch wrapper
i got the flour proportions wrong and i the recipe for the filling turned out to be pure suckage
not to mention i couldn't even pinch the wrapper properly
i promised my friend that i'd make food for him
i was gonna give him the rejects, but even the rejects sucked too much
i really made them for my crush lol =(
ah bad memories
was planning to make them fresh the next day so i ended up not getting any sleep
