Erm..I have a weird question...xD
A lot of people "facebook stalk" these days, but not the dangerous kind..just looking around people's pages and all that random stuff. I'm definately guilty of that ph34r.gif

But...do you find it creepy if you.. lets say...met this person at some event, talked a little, and when you get on facebook/myspace you find out that person added you even though you've only told him/her your first name? Like you're wondering how that person found you or knew your full name?

edit: nevermind! solved it out..i guess..=P

No that wouldn't be very wierd. Just be like "Hey, I saw your profile pic on a mutual friend's page, do you mind if I add you?" If he doesn't have a pic it still wouldn't come off as alarming since you can just tell him what you told us; that you saw his name on the paper.

I think it is creepy and/or weird, especially if you only met the person once.. Which doesn't explain why I don't have the guts to add someone who I met from a five day tour when I got along so well with his family T.T

No I don't think you'd be a creepy stalker if you just facebook friended him. It's not that hard to find someone's facebook really. Just be casual about it.

I think it's only creepy if the stalker knew every single detail about the person they're stalking by intently reading every single post to follow conversations and looking through every single picture of them.

Even though I'm pretty good at getting information out of people, I only do it to get a better idea of who they are. I'm still going to ask them for permission to add and whatnot even though I probably already have all this information anyways.

Just talk to him, it's not that hard.

i think its okay if you guys talked..it's even safer if you have mutal friends hoho!
i mean there was this one guy who added my friend, and she was like 'who the fak is he?'
and turns out he was in our summer school class and the guy never talked to her before..and we didn't even know everyone's names yet o_o. but then he went up to her and said oh yea i added you cause you looked familar and well now we're both good friends with him! haha

You know what's creepy?
My dentist added me on myspace the day after meeting me.

Aside from that, I must admit I have stalked hot guys on facebook before. Never had the guts to add them though, but I just drop by to drool over pictures.

I know what you're thinking, yes definitely creepy. it would've been better if you said "Whats your full name? I'll add you to facebook as a friend" I think that would be more smoother

Haha, I totally get your dilemma here=P
But hey, just go for it, I mean...weigh out the pros and cons of adding him.
What's the worst that can happen? Him freaking out before even giving himself a chance to get to know you? That's not so wise, and maybe you wouldn't want a type of guy like that, right?
Most guys usually like girls being initiative...kind of strokes their egos lmao! Girls on the other hand might find it to be creepy, but guys are guys=D
The cons--you two get two communicate more and good things start to blossom from there, so don't be afraid and hesitate. Go for it!=)
Besides, if a guy pays attention to you for more than a minute or two and manages to carry a conversation with a stranger, then things are looking pretty bright;D

I had someone add me after they stole my hat, and my breakfast after meeting them in class.
I believe the friend request was "hey I accidently stole your hat, want it back? smile.gif"

and oddly enough I didn't think that was weird

i used to think it was weird
but then i realised they found me cos i was tagged in a photo album with them
most people don't usually think too much about it, not if you've actually met and talked to them before in real life.

I don't think it's weird at all. People find other people all the time on facebook with only a first name, whether they're interested in the person or not.

Hey. Welcome to facebook, where everyone can find everyone.
Don’t stop writing—or reading. It will keep you free. It will keep your mind and heart open, and it will be a refuge when the world is too big, or too small, too cruel and without understanding. Even if you think your idea is stupid, or that people won’t care—just keep writing. Write for yourself—write what you want, not what you think other people want to read. -SJM

I don't think it's weird if they have met me in real life and have added me. Better than someone adding me who has never met me before

I agree with <3 Kim. If i've met them before in real life and we talked a little, i don't mind. when it's someone who i have never met before and even if we have a mutual friend, i still don't add them.

I had a guy send me a msg on facebook saying "hey, i've seen you at your work place a few times on sundays, i just never had the guts to come say hi to you, so just wanted to say hi". Now the creepy thing is that, my facebook name and my name tag don't match and my profile pic was only the picture of the necklace with my name on it. even if the name on my necklace and the one on my name tag match, he wouldn't be able to know that its me since you can't see my face and my page is on private. I got a bit freaked out and was a little bit less friendly with the customers for a while.

For some reason I find the Myspace stalkers WAY more creepier than the Facebook stalkers. Haha..

I've never actually had someone I didn't know add me on Facebook. I don't really find it super odd or creepy if someone adds me after one meeting on a social networking site, but I do find it creepy if they keep on talking to me like I'm their best friend or guys trying to "get" at me online.

it's not creepy. it's just weird. there's an "IGNORE" option for a reason, so i use that. i know a lot of people who don't mind, and just want to meet people.

I don't think it's extremely weird. I was surprised a couple of times when it happened because they added me so fast, but I got used to it afterward.

As for the whole facebook stalking. Well, I hardly ever sign on facebook since I only use it if I need to find people to sell my old textbooks to and when I need to reach a person if I cannot reach them by phone. Facebook isn't that addicting. But I do have a couple of friends that literally stalk other people on facebook. It's funny though, because they stayed on that thing for hours just to look at pictures. I guess in there definition, it's fun and stress relieving to "stalk" facebookers when you have a couple of hours before your next class.

EDIT///To poster above:

That happened to be too. I learned to ignore them. It could get quite annoying since some don't even have pictures of their own. Just ignore them. ADVICE. Please, think before you accept their invitation. I know it may sound mean. But facebook is not myspace. Don't accept just anyone that add you.
