i guess this belongs here in relationships.

How many of you watch anime? if you do, have you see GTO aka Great Teacher Onizuka (both live and anime versions)? in case you don't know what it's about, basically its about a regular average guy that wants to teach high school. But the way he teaches the students is not the way the school wants it to be taught. He uses life experiences and apply it to students situations.

anyways Onizuka's personality and character is very unpredictable and awesome. You have to see how he is to know what i mean. So I was wondering have you met or seen such of a person in real life.? I know his character or personality is kinda out of this world, but at least close to it. I haven't met such a person close to that but if I do it'll be awesome. His personality is like he'll help you for your own benefit without expecting anything in return. His ways of doing things is outrageous.

i cant but help to love the guy in that fantasy world. You could say a role model for me, makes me want to be kinda like him in ways of a leader or helping others.. Weird how a made up character can have that appeal. There's not much people in my life that I like to call a role model or someone I REALLY look up too.

so I was wondering is it plausible for such a person to exist somewhere in this world?
or have you ever met such a person?
and or even someone who is not Onizuka, but some other person that (from fictional world) you like to meet or already met in real life?

Works of fiction are often times based off of reality.

Even if you find him, what are the odds that he'll be interested in you out of the other million girls that want him?

I never watched that anime. But, I did meet someone who was kind of like how you described. He had an unconventional way of teaching and also used life experiences to teach students.

lol wait till you read the manga.
He's really perverted and does a bit of sexual harassment to his students more explicitly.

There was someone I knew who was similar in some ways (Unpredictable but really into teaching his students well).
And I respect him as a person, even though he never really got anything done for most of the stuff lol.

So there are similar people once you think of it.

I had an English teacher like him -- or well, not as extreme as Onizuka, but a little similar to him. He was crazy and the way he taught was really...unconventional, but you learn quite a lot from him. He gave us life examples instead of ones we had in our textbooks, and his views about English/Literature were inspiring.

Hmm I'd have to say no I haven't any teacher who acts like GTO would immediately be arrested. It would be cool and terrifying to have one though.

lemme try to sum up onizuka..

virgin. lol. gangster, dangerous friends, alright, forget all that

his most outstanding characteristic has to be insight. he has insight, he somehow automatically knows a person's troubles just by looking at them for all of like 5 minutes and knows what type of person he needs to act like to "break the ice"

that and he's indestructable.

personally i don't think a person like that can exist. yes, it's possible to possess that type of insight, but not for EVERYONE. onizuka can read anyone. some people are just like closed books, it's impossible.

i'm guessing this real life example doesn't (can't) be a teacher cuz he'd be fired so fast, hmmm

dunno, anything possible, but it'd have to be an older brother or something, cuz with his type of attitude, i don't know any job he could take. possibly life coach?

If the real Onizuka looked like Takashi Sorimachi then niiice.
But really, all I can think of is 'wtf' when I read this.It makes me wonder at times.
If a person like him existed, it'd be a real treat cause not many people will go to such extreme just to teach other's a lesson in life.

that is pretty cool. I wish I had some teachers like that then I wouldn't be falling asleep in class. lol

By the way I don't mean a person out there that has to be totally like Onizuka but traits similar to him.

I haven't read the manga, but I'm pretty sure both live and anime are similar to the manga. I know he has a perverted side to him which makes the anime hilarious, but in real life its a no no.

And that person don't have to be a teacher too.
