My birthday is coming and I don't plan on having a party.
When my friends have parties I always give them a present.
Should they be doing the same and giving me a present even though I'm not having party because I got them something for their birthday?

they really aren't obligated to give you anything.
it was your choice to give them presents so it could
be their choice for them not getting you anything.

yeah, it's really annoying when friends are like "hey i got you a 30 dollar gift last christmas so you gotta get me a 30 dollar gift for my birthday"

should your friends give you a birthday present?
no, because you're a greedy, self-entitled kid.

you probably wont even get any presents because you're not even having a party.
no one will give two mini coopers about your birthday unless you have a party.
simple as that for your simple ass

ive ran into this dilemma before and telling you, it ain't pretty.

you can't expect them to give u presents, but what i hate is,

friends have favorites and they would decorate 1 friends locker, or give a surprise birthday party to another.. and then totally forget about you and be like, oh its your birthday ???
you and i together, it just feels alright

They're choice. If you really want to receive presents then go throw a party or something

Well...some of my friends don't have birthday parties, depending on the person, they could give you gifts. People really can't enforce their friend to give gifts...it isn't right...

Since you're not having a birthday party, people will feel less obliged to give you a present.
You even said it yourself, when your friends have parties, you give them presents.
If your friends are close to you, then maybe they'll give you a present if school has started/if they see you often.
But if you don't really see them much, then I highly doubt you'll get presents from them. :/

Happy early birthday though. wink.gif

I always get asked to chip in for friends present, and used to not getting back anything because I don't hold parties for my own birthdays. having THAT said I'm not complaining, just showing that you shouldn't keep tabs on who you give presents to and expecting something back. that's not how presents work.

however this year my friends surprised me and organised a little get together for my 19th this year smile.gif and they all chipped in to get me a puppy!

They don't really have to do anything, except maybe greet you on your day.

Because that's like you're giving them gifts just so they could buy you stuff too.

Give presents to show your appreciation without expecting anything in return. It's a little difficult, but if you feel uncomfortable then you should stop.

Why should they? You're not hosting a party, so they shouldn't have to give you presents since you aren't the one inviting them to anywhere, so they don't have to pay their gratitude.

Now, none of my friends give me presents when I have a birthday near, simply because I'm not hosting a party. If you have a really close bestfriend like I do, he or she might give you a present.
But that's about it.

Just because you were born on a specific date doesn't mean you should recieve presents.

Usually people only bring gifts if you have a party or gathering.

Honestly it's their choice if they want to give you a gift or not. When you give them birthday gifts, it was your choice to give it to them. So pretty much if they don't give you anything than you should just let it be.
