Third Bite.

One simple word: BAD. As long as I don't sit in a wheelchair, my feet will never ever set in that house again. Well, I guess not all were horrible; the food itself was pretty good compared to the service.
It was Thursday, bit passed 7'o clock in the evening. I can see the red polluted sun just about to set behind the tall building that towered above me. I was with two friends of the BEST. Automatically, we trooped straight to "somewhere" instantly. No discussion, no hesitation. Hunger came first of all. Gossiping about our new math teacher in our tutor, we finall destined upon a small low building, completly opposite of the building I first saw. First thing I saw were two three ladies in black aprons running around with trays in their hands, while yelling "Yes~" or "Nae~" in Korean, if you understand. Here's the first encounter that I did not enjoy. They kept us customers standing in front of the door for about 3 to 4 minutes. It doesn't seem that long, but in a restaurant with no walls, and where everyone can look at us, it seemed much more than 3 or 4 minutes. Finally, we were escorted to a corner of the restaurant. Leaving the small table of four people (which was PERFECT for us) we were guided, or forced to sit in a long table, more for 10 people. Okay, I guess this isn't that bad... UNTIL another six never-seen-before faces started crowding toward us. The lady in the apron gave me no explanations or permission. Leaving only 3 inches apart from another party and me, I decided to turn my attention back to my peers.
I thoguht the first thing the waitresses are suppose to do is to hand out the menu. Did the rule change or something? Because I got mine after 5 minutes I arrived in the restaurants. In addition, I had to ASK for it; yes, that's right. Good thing I had a ring I can press to call them, or else I would have lost my voice that day. In the menu, a page of food entries were carefully listed down: cold noodles (냉면), Korean BBQ (갈비), and stews (찌개/국) mainly. I chose to eat Tofu Stew (순두부), one of my favorite Korean foods. [imghttp://c.ask.nate.com/imgs/qrsi.tsp/8778149/11625779/0/1/A/1.jpg[/img] My other companions ordered bulgogi pork (불고기). The price was 8.99, I believe, which was not that bad compared to the amount I got. After 30 minutes or so, I finally got my Tofu stew along with bulgogi meats. The sudden happiness of food in my mouth made me forgot how mad I was for their unprepared, slow, horrible, and unfair service they gave us. There were two variety of rice I was able to choose, white and purple. Side dishes were served in tiny white plastic plates with bunch of scratches everywhere. And I dont' know why but my friends and I think it's the fact that we were teenagers, and they need to serve the adults first! Well, if you happen to end up going here, you better take someone who looks old, or else they'll never know you're there.
Overall, service, can't even mention. Food, I guess best out of all. Ignoring children/teenagers, yes! Probably won't go back there, wouldn't you? Oh, and by the way, they got a letter B! Wonder why...

Second Bite.
Ruby's Diner
#1 Main St.
Huntington Beach, CA 92648

Did you ever drained down bulky clam chowder while looking outside to a red spot just hanging over the glittering beach? Well, I have, and it's FANTASTIC! If you want to try some, definitely, listen to some of my tips, and you'll be the one with the Heaven's Tongue.
In addition to my last visit to Corner Bakery Cafe (below), Ruby's Diner, too, was also a place I enjoyed eating at.
If you ever need a placid area to ease your stress, frustration, etc... be sure to stop by Ruby's Diner, of course the one beside the Huntington Beach! This diner can be reached after a delightful walk on the beach pier. During your airing, you can stop by two or three small retail stores that sell food, drinks, and of course small souvenirs you can treasure for the rest of your life. At the very end of the wood planked pier, you will reach the ultimate Ruby's Diner.
If you never went to eat at this restaurant, it is simply like Denny's or I guess you can call it "An Improved version of In-N-Out." They had variety of menu choices that I had difficulty of deciding: salads, soups, hamburgers, sandwiches, sliders, seafood, and more. Since I came after hours of swimming in the beach, or ice water I should say, I chose to sip down some clam chowder soup to warm me up. My companions ordered the classic Ruby Burger or the Chili soups.
After 10 minutes or so, all of our orders arrived to our table, served by cheerful waiter and waitress. Just because the logo has a lady covered in red and white stripes, doesn't necessarily mean they're all women. There were men in strips too. The clam chowder soup I ordered was served in a large plate garnished by a piece of parsley. I don't know about you, but do you eat your soups warm or hot? I definitely love them HOT, but unfortunately, they weren't. They seemed to be sitting down for a while for the hamburgers for my friends to be ready. I guess I have problems with temperature.
I definitely was satisfied with what I had to pay. I paid a bit less than five dollars for my clam chowder soup, a dollar for tip ( in addition to several other dollars my friends paid), and NOTHING for the fries I ate, because that was part of my friend's. Paying barely $6, I had stuffed my stomach with potatoes and clams.
So make sure when you pass over the Huntington Beach, run along "Shooby Dooby Down To..." Ruby's Diner!

First Bite.
Corner Bakery Cafe
1040 West Imperial Highway
La Habra, CA 90631

First impressions are the most important when meeting new faces because it leaves the biggest impact and memory. I think this also implies when I go to a restaurant too. Personally, I think a good eatery means eating at an appropriate mood, paying a reasonable price for a meal delivered by a friendly waiter or waitress. No?
When I opened the thick door, a cool breeze with an aroma of freshly baked breads welcomed me. A perfect place, I thought, to be after roaming around the neighborhood mall for hours. It was actually my first time visiting this cafe so I was quite stoked. Inside, the dim lights that hung from the ceiling lightened the mood, very different from the blazing sun. On the left side were rows of table and chairs for a pair or couples to dine, and to my right were bigger tables for a party of four or more. I quickly walked straight ahead to see the menu chart closer. The word "pasta" caught my eye in a second. There weren't that much of a variety of pastas, many four? Maybe because it's a bakery?
I did not want to wait any longer due to all the wonderful smell that attracted me from all directions. Automatically, I chose the first one listed, Pesto Cavatappi, the only one that were written in red letters and had a picture next to it, unlike the others. Along with the pasta, I also ordered a medium sized drink to share with my mom, paying a bit over $10 total. The man, who already knew i was sharing with my mom, benignly asked if I wanted the pasta split in two. I stated, "Yes, please!" After my order, I directly ran into the bathroom.
Now public restrooms, I always, ALWAYS have a problem with. So I held my breath before I went in there, but to my surprise, it was relatively clean! I slowly let in a small breath, and another surprise, it didn't smell bad at all. Although it didn't carry that bread smell like it did in the main hall, but I was quite satisfied. No damp paper towel on the floor, nor a puddle of water for me to slip into. Overall, clean and amiable bathroom I rarely see in restaurants.
I sat in my seat, and clipped the number tag my mom received back at the counter. Before five minutes or so, a man who carried two plates over his shoulder wandered around, looking side to side. When he saw my number, he stopped momentarily, then confidently walked towards my table. YES! i secretly yelled in my head. The order came out pretty fast, about 5 or 10 minutes.
My dish, Pesto Cavatappi, were carefully split into two plates, both equivalent in size. Although it was split into two, it still carried enough for me to eat. Aside the pasta, was a piece of baked garlic bread. My pasta consisted of strips of chicken and pasta pieces all covered in white cream sauce and green herbs. In addition, the top was sprinkled with bread crumbs, that I enjoyed. It wasn't soggy although it touched the sauce; still crunchy and steamy how I liked it. I always dipped the garlic bread into the left over cream sauce.
I determined I will come to eat here again.
