How do you feel about people who can't tell the difference after 4th grade?

Well, it's not that it makes me mad, I just don't know why it's so hard for people to know the difference.

Oh and don't give me the "Oh, it's the internet, no one cares." thing. D:

It's not that hard, just some words that sound the same, it's not you can mistake read(past tense) and red.

Edit: I got rid of the first original line, it sounded kinda harsh.
I'm not trying to offend anyone or be mean. Just want people's opinions on why they think this is such a common mistake.

Edit 2: Some more mistakes are like..
affect and effect
Should of and should have (No such thing as should of)
then and than

Hehe yeah. I get pretty irritated with that too. And honestly, I feel that sometime people really don't know the difference. However, mistakes are acceptable.

There's a difference between messing up and not knowing.

I must have misinterpreted your first sentence wrong.

It's not that hard, almost everyone on the internet seems to think so.

Do you mean, almost everyone on the internet think it's not hard? Or that they're all the same "cause it's the internet and no one cares" lol

It's not that hard to tell the difference actually, but I remember in 8th grade, there were a bunch of kids who couldn't when it came to corrections.

D:

O____e, how am I being critical?

I'm just wondering why some people can't differentiate a few words, that's all.

I'm not trying to be offensive, just saw the mistakes a lot recently.

some people really get overly sensitive when you tell them x:
it's not super important, but yes,
it does bother me sometimes when people 'mix them up'.

You give them the benefit of the doubt. If it persist, you offer constructive criticism. Afterward it's fair game to ridicule if they still continue in their ways.

It irritates me as well when people misspell the their, there, and they're

they're = they are
there = place
their = someone

I get irritated when I see these kind of mistakes repeatedly. Especially in school when you peer edit papers with your classmates.

you'd know if the person just made a typo error or he/she really doesn't know how to use those words properly.

i just subconsciously correct them when i see it. another mistake i noticed very often on soompi is that people don't add -ed at the end of their words. ex: i was surprise/he's being bias, etc
