There's lot of topics about Asian SIM card phones being used in the US, but I don't think they refer to Prepaid. From personal experience, has anyone ever had an Asian phone on a US prepaid plan and if so, what carrier was it through?

as long as the phone is unlocked and depending on the band reception will be okay or good

you can use them with att prepaid or tmobile prepaid, both use sim cards

^^ Just like they said, the type of phone is usually pretty irrelevant, just as long as the phone works with your carrier, and your carrier offers pre-paid plans.
